Is circumcision mutilation?

Following your logic regarding potential yeast infection, the proper way to treat a cavity on a tooth is to rip it out rather than getting a simple filling.

Uncircumcised penis gets yeast infection. Circumcised does not. It’s that simple.
To the best of my knowledge, my husband has never had a yeast infection. I checked, and he confirms that he has not. He also says that he does not, to the best of his knowledge, know any male who has ever had one. In women, where yeast infections are not uncommon, they are usually not difficult to treat.
Urine gets under foreskin. Urine not a problem for circumcised. How many times a day do people urinate?
First, there’s nothing particularly unhygienic about urine. I wouldn’t want to drink it, but there’s nothing wrong with having a trace of urine on your skin for a few hours. Secondly, you seem to be basing your claim on a deficient understanding of how the penis works. Retract the foreskin, urinate, dry the penis, return the foreskin back to its usual position. Simple. The end of the penis can also be washed.
There is no difference in any testimony I’ve ever heard from uncircumcised males who get a circumcision as an adult as pertaining to sensitivity.
Well, apparently there are lots and lots of nerve endings on the foreskin. Also, I understand that during intercourse, an uncircumcised penis is stimulated in two ways: first, by rubbing against the vagina, but I believe also the foreskin glides back and forth as well.
Desensitized penis is a myth and lie. There is no “tough skin” on the circumcised penis.
I have never seen a circumcised penis up close, but I would trust those who say that there is scar tissue and reduced sensitivity from exposure of the glans.
Do you actually think that men would continue to circumcise males if there weren’t a benefit?
Of course they would! People do all kinds of things that are not beneficial to other people. FGM and breast ironing are almost always performed by women.
And lastly, an uncircumcised penis is a vestige of caveman who couldn’t rely on the female to be lubricated on her own during intercourse. Circumcised man have an awfully hard time penetrating an unwilling female.
What a strange, disgusting thing to think, let alone say.

Just so there won’t be any misconceptions:
It is hard for an uncircumcised man to penetrate an unwilling woman as well. Both circumcised and intact men can do it with enough force, which is why tears and bleedings are common in rape victims. Circumcision doesn’t prevent rape in any way.

I agree with most of your points, but actually did say if you aren’t circumcised, don’t get one. (Again, he was talking about for religious reasons, which had been explicitly condemned by the Church).

Health reasons are a different matter 🙂

Except that there are no health reasons for blanket, routine, circumcision for boys. Or girls. : )

Definitely against this.
Except that there are no health reasons for blanket, routine, circumcision for boys.
Which is why I think it should be between the parents, their doctors, and their spiritual directors and priests 🙂

I wonder what different answers you would get from an Indian priest, vs an American priest, an Irish priest, a Filipino priest, a Nigerian priest…

In the OT if you lose two sons to circumcision you stop.

So in the modern era where the complications that circumcision solves is 2% and 2-7% of circumcision result in further complications…

Math says if you don’t need it, don’t do it.

So what’s the purpose of FGM then? The cultures that practice it hate women and can’t comprehend they are humans, so they decide to cause injury and remove anything that could bring a woman any bit of pleasure in sex and they want to make childbirth even more painful. It’s positively evil.
be careful, FGM are practiced in many culture, and commonly by women.

What you are saying are offensive for entire populations.

We all agree that GFM cause deep harm.

But you are wrong if you think that the beliefs that lead to these cultural GFM are a because they believe that women are not human and they hate them.

Cleary you should have made a little more search before claiming that on a public forum.

The Church believes it is a prefigurement of Baptism. But I think more to the point, you are asking why circimcision and not something else? I dont know if the Church has anything say about that but I think it could be a symbolic prefigurement of Christ’s birth, death, and resurrection. A covenant in blood.

What seems to be interesting is that other ancient cultures also practiced circumcision.

Jesus also said to eat his flesh. People apparently thought that was strange at the time. Romans thought it was weird too.

Can we mesh two hot topics and note that this was on the liturgical calendar before Vatican II?! 🤣

Maybe God had the Jews circumcise due to living in the desert. “Bible world problems”. But now we don’t need to. Because we’re not nomadic desert people and we have access to bathrooms, showers, etc.

Actually it can a really necessary medical procedure,
Please google the medical condition called “Phimosis”.
My dad had to be circumcised at the young age of 65 years.
While I did it at 50. I took preventive action and had my son circumcised when he was weeks old. Hoping to spare him the pain I endured most of my adult life.

Peace!

I understand that some people do suffer from this. If this runs in the family that seems like a legit medical reason.

Both old and new testament have lines ranging from:
“If it’s not safe/people have died.”
To
“Don’t do it.”

Add to the fact science doesn’t back it, the church doesn’t back it then we shouldn’t.

Doing for the sake of “tradition” is both dangerous and irresponsible.

If it’s not safe and there’s no religious reason for it then ya it is.

And I just did.

In the Bible, it says, “if people die, stop doing it.” Even then people were aware it was a risk.
