For Catholics at least it would not be a good thing. Cloning occurs by somatic nuclear cell transfer which is inconsistent with the natural form of reproduction. For it to be morally licit, you need to have both the unitive and the procreative components and that would not be possible with cloning.

Very interesting question.

For myself, I would tend to say that yes, cloning is part of the culture of death.

Simply put, it cheapens life. Are we going to pump out human beings from factories like we produce cars or stereos?
