If the State of California recognized that the guy-BMW marriage was valid, how does that NOT impact the legal status of your marriage to your wonderful husband? How can you not see that the legal recognition of your marriage as equivalent to the bond between a man and his luxury car is a significant reduction in the relationship that you describe as a wonderful marriage. In short, the State would be saying that there is no legal distinction between the relationship the man enjoys with his car, and the relationship your husband enjoys with you.

Peace,
Robert
Because marriage is between two people, not a guy and a car.

Two people not too closely related - ruling out the totally idiotic idea someone kept repeating as though it was ever so clever, of marrying their mother.

Of legal age.

And free under the law to actually marry.

If thats a man and a woman, or two women, or two men, it simply doesn’t even remotely devalue or affect the marriage I have, which is also between two people who love and adore each other and want to spend the rest of their lives together. Just like the gay couples.

Why would you prohibit two first cousins from marrying? Let’s assume they are madly in love with one another. Why impose your morality on them?

Only two people? no car? so narrow minded and irrational.

I’m sorry - there must be a troll board you could play on somewhere - have a look, the internet is vast and I’m sure you’ll find something to suit.

After that’s out of your system, by all means engage me in a civilized and charitable conversation.

But if you’ve nothing constructive or of interest to add, please play somewhere else.

I’m enjoying an adult exchange, with adults.

Sure, why not incest, so long as they are two consenting adults. Doesn’t affect me or anyone else.

Don’t get hostile. Just explain why your husband shouldn’t be legally allowed to have a second wife?

Some States do allow first cousin marriage, some with conditions.

Personally, I think it’s a bad idea, but I’m not going to force that on anyone. I can’t live their life for them. I would tuttut and wave my finger and suck my teeth and say Oi Vey and swoon with my hand on my forehead making small weeping noises and stuff like that, but in the end it’s the voice of the people that counts and if the State says it will licence first cousins, then that’s great for first cousins.

If first cousins want to get married, and have been sensible enough to have genetic councelling and are madly deeply in love with each other, hey, I’m not going to impose my morality on them.

Let them find a State that will recognize their marriage and go for it.

I was having a subtle 😉 at the mother marrying daughter silliness we had a while back 😃

Oh well.

I tried.

Go speak to every legislature in every State, get their answers, and come back and tell us.

Until then, Bye!

But you don’t really mean this, spencelo.

Unless you are a proponent of adultery? For is not an adulterous relationship between 2 consenting adults?

So basically, you are imposing your idea of morality on the polygamous Mormons, but you object to our imposing our ideas…

But don’t worry, you will soon be on our side…

…It becomes a problem when **you, as a Christian, want to impose your values and definitions on people who do not recognize them, or want them, **and feel you can demand a certain group of people be denied what you have, under the law…
However, it is perfectly ok for homosexuals to impose their values and definitions on those who do not recognize them or want them…

How many of the states where *the people *were allowed a say in the matter have voted for SSM?

I wouldn’t be imposing anything on Mormons.

Name the States that allow polygamous marrages

I’ll be right there with you guys when you support the right of a same sex couple to get married under the secular law of the land 👍

He said polygomous mormons(FLDS) you are imposing your morality on. A morality based on an irrational rule you made up.

The State defines morality, so you were OK with the Trail of Tears because it was authorized by the state.👍

Remember that little business of those pesky Southern States breaking away and keeping their slaves?

Not allowing same sex couples to marry and receive the same benefits as heterosexual couples, under the law, is unconstitutional.

It’ll all work out in the end, and we’ll have same sex marriages in every State.

As Hitchens once noted:

Two foxes and a rabbit get together to decide what to eat for lunch.

Democracy ensures each have a single vote.

The Constitution ensures the rabbit isn’t on the menu.

👍

You asked me about two first cousins. What does that have to do with adultery? As for being a proponent of adultery, no I’m not, but I won’t criminalize it either.

What’s next? We will be bigots if we disagree with a man sleeping with other women besides his wife? “He can’t help it. It’s just the way he is. He’s attracted to all sorts of women. He can’t possibly control himself and sleep with just one?”

Hate the sin, love the person.

You asked me about two first cousins.
Nope. Wasn’t me. :nope:
What does that have to do with adultery? As for being a proponent of adultery, no I’m not, but I won’t criminalize it either.
And yet adultery is 2 consenting adults, yes?

So perhaps you want to amend your definition for what you consider to be a moral sexual liason? :hmmm:
