Is Dare Devil Catholic by name or practice?

Watching the new Dare Devil show on Netflix and was wondering if in the comic books Matt Murdock ever expresses his Catholicism in any meaningful way. I mean as in portrays Catholicism deeper than the typical “pre-violence confession scene” " I understand guilt, I’m Catholic " and other popular media “Catholicness”
 
He’s Catholic, but he’s liberal (according to The Punisher) in the comics.
 
That does not make The Punisher wrong on everything, however. Daredevil does live in New York, and most of the people there are liberal, so it wouldn’t be a stretch to think that he is as well. Though The Punisher is a cold blooded killer, I think he’s right in this instance.
