I’m going to guess you mean December 8 and the answer is I don’t know.
But this sounds a lot like the riddle “Do they have the Fourth of July in England?” Yes…it comes between July 3 and July 5.
Is December 9 (a Sunday) a holy day in England? Yes, just like Sundays are holy days everywhere.

For future reference, the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of each country (in this case the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales) determine the Holy Days for each country. You need to go to their website and click on the ‘Liturgy Office’ link - it’s there in black and white (Holy Days of Obligation)
Here - catholic-ew.org.uk/liturgy/Calendar/Holydays.html - are the Holy Days for the UK for the next three years (through to 2010) - just scroll to the bottom of the page.
