Is divorce an option in an abusive relationship?

My sister is married to an alcoholic. He is emotionally abusive to my sister. He has not worked in over 5 years. They do not share intimacy. She is on the verge of going bankrupt. Would God want her to stay in this marriage? I’m so confused. Would it be ok for her to divorce him or would that be a sin?
