Is donating blood a charitable act?

Would donating blood be an act of evangelization?

I have been really committing to my faith lately and I am wanting to start doing my part to be a good Catholic and person and help those around me.

Would giving blood be a good place to start? I would think it would be a great act of charity and a great way to help others. Just wanted your views and opinions.

I’d say it’s an act of charity. Many parishes in my area organize blood drives. A good way to meet fellow Catholics!
 
Donating blood can help save a life. I would definitely think it is a charitable act.
 
It is always a charitable act to do good. But when you do good deeds, make sure only God see what you do. What people think about you is not important, what God think is all that matters. Keep up with the good work, and if they pay for it, or as they do here in Finland, give a packet of coffee, take it to people who need it better. Never do good because you want to look good and never do good thinking you will gain something in this life, what you do is the treasure in heaven you are increase. What you are paid to do is a very different thing then doing good for nothing.
 
It falls under care for the sick, so it is a Corporal Work of Mercy ( Or a Corpuscle Work of Mercy…one of the two :p)

It is an act of charity. Our parish sponsors three drives each year.

I usually give a “pulpit pitch” prior to a blood drive – and I say something like this: “You young people out there . . . with the multiple piercings and the body art . . . don’t tell me you don’t give blood because you’re afraid of needles!”

It works! I think!

I Have done it for Decades… We can’t change the world by ourselves…

but if each person just did one small thing… Humanity could move mountains …
