WASHINGTON (Catholic Online) – Robert H. Schuller, 82, began his ministry in Garden Grove, California preaching a gospel of faith and positive thinking. Today, due to a split in the family and financial woes, things are not very positive around the Crystal Cathedral.
Almost ten years ago the successful television pastor began to carefully introduce his son, Robert A. Schuller, 54, to his congregation as his likely successor. In 2006 he was officially installed as the Senior Pastor at the local church and main speaker for the hour of power.
The family legacy began to crumble when Schuller was removed as the speaker for the “Hour of Power” at the end of October, 2008. One month later he resigned as Senior Pastor of the Crystal Cathedral, citing ideological differences with his father.
First of all, it is sad when there is a rift in any family, but a public rift that has also caused a crack in the basis of their beliefs…and it effects others is just plain horrible. I think I will keep this family in my prayers as well as their congregation who probably are beginning to wonder about the tenets of this church.
