Depends.If you mean that it is OK to get drunk to the point where it effects your physical and mental capacity but you still know that it is wrong to drive a car. That is still a mortal sin.
I agree drinking does not always equal drunkard. Drunkenness = Drunkard. Drunkard = Mortal Sin because bible clearly states person will not enter Kingdom.INCORRECT
Drinking ANYTHING impairs our ability to drive LONG before it impairs us to the point where the church would deem us in a grave position. This is why the church allows a grey area when it comes to drinking, but not for endangering the lives of ouselves or others…check out the catechism. However, If you are looking for a guide to the number of allowable drinks one can have, its not there…A number of priests have explained to me DRINKING= NO SIN/ DRINKING TOO MUCH= VENIAL SIN / DRINKING TO WHERE HARM [PHYSICAL/EMOTIONAL ETC.] COMES TO ANYONE= MORTAL SIN

Exactly,positively, 100%-----That is why consumption of alcohol and sinfulness is[usually} subjective… That is why the church leaves it this way… I think we all know the next morning{ at the latest] when we have crossed the line…after having been there a few times, I am MUCH more conscious of that line now…but, it does not mean I cant still cross it in culpably venial manner. Now defining what constitutes drunkenness is perhaps debatable, may depend on the person.
Ok, good. I believe we are in agreement. I think the same could apply to something like “lust”. There are times when lust would be considered venial and other when lust could be mortal. If you were “drunk” to the point it becomes a grave issue, you would be of no use to yourself or your husband… Im only assuming you arent planning on getting “that drunk”…99% of us have been “tipsy” on our wedding nights.So embarrassingly honest question here that I never really thought about… is it a mortal sin for me to get tipsy or drunk on my honeymoon night to help with the fact that I’m REALLY nervous about it (pain, etc.)? Because I was planning on it! I don’t think it would lead to anything else sinful.
They normally go hand in hand… My priest explained this in depth to me but suffice to say, it is {for me} a pride issue. “Where do I get the right to enjoy myself to that extent at the expense of The Lord”}. It is hard because there are lower degrees of these sins,but to describe them you must use the word tht implies fullness of culpability… it would be better to say " drunkful"–"lustful’ to imply truly being in that state…!
