Is Eating Meat an Aspect of our Fallen Nature?

Sometimes I get hungry looking at animals or pictures of animals. It may be weird but ah well.

Oddly I don’t recall that happening very often (read: ever) with plants.

I think that’s mainly because they were a source of work and what not and relatively valuable, so sacrificing it was worth more. The poorer ones could sacrifice other things.

Come down to KFC and enjoy our 5 for $5 Deal while supplies last.

Ok, but it seems to me that noting the recommended dietary guidelines and findings of the USDA, World Health Organization, American Heart Association, and American Diabetic Association hardly qualifies as “medical advice”.

You have coronary artery disease and referred to “Lifestyle Medicine involving Whole Food Plant Based Diet”, which is a specific situation. You didn’t say “The guidelines of such and such organizations say…” .

It would be fine if you said something like “for myself, this diet is healthier based on talks with my doctor”. Not everybody has coronary artery disease and even if you do (heart and artery disease run in my family), dietary change like switching to plant-based is not necessarily what a doctor will recommend, especially if the person eats very little meat already and still gets the disease in old age. Cutting out your meat without doctors’ advice can also make you become very sick if you have certain blood conditions (happened to me). Just be careful about unsourced generalizations based on your particular case.

Then God said, “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food.
there’s also the 'Daniel diet ’ the story of Daniel and the three young men in Daniel Ch.1
However, i Genesis Ch.9, after the Flood, God gave Noah permission to eat ’ every creature that moves and lives ’
It is much healthier to reduce and (if possible ) eliminate meat. Same goes for dairy products. For many people this is a very controversial topic . 🍖🍗🥓🧀🍲:milk_glass:🥧

It’s a controversial topic because unless you are a person’s doctor, you are not in a position to say what is “healthier” for that individual person, and Catholic Answers forum rules prohibit the giving of health advice.

What is healthy for person A to eat or not eat may cause a serious problem for person B.

If carnivores did not eat their prey animals, we would be up to our armpits in deer and they would out strip their food supply.

I do not like most vegetables. I love milk and cheese and yogurt. I also love fish and most seafood (and bacon which is the most delicious stuff in the world). I know people who are lactose intolerant and don’t eat dairy. I know one person who is gluten intolerant but most people eat what they love. And honestly, it’s none of my business.

I wouldn’t presume to give anyone medical advice, but we are allowed to speak about ’ Nutrition ’

The nutritional guidelines currently propagated by the US Government include low-fat dairy and also a variety of protein including low-fat red meat and poultry.

They do not recommend that a person eliminate entire groups of food, like all meat or all dairy. Obviously a particular person might need or wish to eliminate a food group if advised by their doctor to do so, or if they feel better when they eat a certain way and their doctor confirms it’s okay to do so.

I know from my own experience and also from knowing a lot of vegetarians and vegans that when you cut out a category of food, you need to make sure you are consuming particular other sources of protein and nutrients that compensate for the nutrients you lose in the category you cut out. It takes some effort and again, the advice of a doctor or nutritionist working with a doctor.

Yes, it takes effort at first, and education. Soon it becomes a lifestyle and very easy as well as fun. New frontiers of healthy cuisine.

Before the fall we reached up for food. Food sustains the body in the condition it exists. Food before death is ordered to a body of immortal life. Now food is ordered to mortal life. After sin ee reach down for food. No meat required to sustain immortal life. No need to survive an immortal state of life.
