Is Eating Meat an Aspect of our Fallen Nature?

Speaking of which, scientists are working on growing meat in labs. Instead of slaughtering an animal, they extract some stem cells and grow them into the meat they want.

Well, primates are omnivores as I understand it, though admittedly a very small portion of their diet comes from animal protein but they will eat meat. Evidence from early human remains indicates a diet that included meat but I don’t think that is consistent; it is based on environment, availability. I agree that humans can live without meat - I include dairy products, eggs, but not fish in the diet. What people eat is a very very very sensitive subject I have found. But I stand by the argument for vegetarianism; it has been practiced by saints and fathers, East and West (mainly as penance - I get that too). What was it Paul said - one man eats meat, another milk? All is good.

Yes. I got tire of the work: washing, cutting and cleaning up. And also that juice is so concentrate and you miss out on the fiber. I like carrot juice though.

The reason the juice is so concentrated is because you are drinking a meal. If you use organic veg and fruit, you are also avoiding harmful pesticides and fertilizers. All helping in building up the all-important immune system.

For me i would never survive as a vegetarian. I don’t eat much in the way of vegetables and I don’t eat fruit.

It’s a texture and taste thing for me. I don’t eat much red meat. Only when I go out to dinner generally. I mostly chicken. If I eat red meat at home it’s lean. I would love to include more fish, but alas it’s expensive.

Veg and fruit provide a large percentage of alkaline. The acid alkaline balance in a healhy diet should be in the region of 20 - 80 i.e Acid -20 to alkaline 80
Virtually all packaged and canned foods have sugar aded which is unhealthy . Not to mention all the other unpronounceable ingredients.

The Scriptures seem to indicate that carnivory is indeed a result of the Fall. In our resurrected, glorified bodies we will not eat meat and, as suggested in Isaiah 11:7 and 65, neither will the animals

Didn’t the scriptures mention something about the “land overflowing with milk and honey?”

Now, that was regarding Moses and the Israelites, but I would love it if that was in heaven as well…

The Catholic Church sees in the Old Testament certain foreshadowings, and while I cannot speak authoritavely for the Holy Church, I have always wondered if this, too, the Israelites’ exodus from Egypt, was a foreshadowing of paradise in the world to come, considering that not everyone who left Egypt actually made it to the promised land.

I eat a low carb-high fat diet. I eat meat at every meal. It is the healthiest choice for me. I think God gave us sharp teeth for a reason.

Can you explain to me how saturated fats are healthy?

Uh, no thanks, I will pass on that. 😏

It is arguably the healthiest diet there is, especially for someone who is insulin resistant.

The premise is that saturated fats are quite beneficial in many ways, and only pose a potential risk when ingested in combination with sugar (carbohydrates). Restrict carbs, and you get all the benefits from saturated fats and none of the risk. Recent scientific research (since the 70’s,) supports this. If you are interested in reading more, I would refer you to the Duke University website. They have a whole center there which, among many others, does research on this.

It doesn’t make much sense to me. The main risks of saturated fats is that they indisputably can contribute to heart disease as well as impede cellular mechanisms resulting in insulin resistance. Whole food Plant based diets on the other hand can reverse insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes and heart disease. But let’s not discuss it here sidtracking the theological nature of the thread.

I will check out the Duke website if you also look into Lifestyle Medicine Lifestyle Medicine and https://nutritionfacts.org.

Deal?

I have already done all the research. Extensively. But I am always excited to bring someone new into the fold when they read up on low-carb high-fat diets and get excited about it. Carbohydrates can cause inflammation in the body which is what lends itself to heart disease. Not really the saturated fats. But I am not a scientist. I would recommend reading up on it, though. It is also referred to as a keto or ketogenic diet, if you choose to research it.

I have been eating like this for over 13 years. I’m in my 50s and feel as good as most people feel in their late twenties or thirties. My blood work is excellent. That’s all the testimony I can give. Cheers!

I think I will stay clear of that fold. Thanks.
