angainor,
The Eucharist is Jesus’ Real Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity…it gets no more real then that.

One important point to remember. Your ancestors used to believe in the Body and Blood being Jesus. You actually have many more years of this Tradition in your history than not. What do you mean, the Eucharist is Jesus. I don’t understand. Jesus is a divine person. The Eucharist is, at most, Jesus’ flesh and blood. I don’t understand how the two can be equal. My human person resides in my flesh and blood, but my flesh and blood are not “me”.
Hi Malachi,Is Jesus seated at the right hand of the Father or not? Does He constantanly leave His seat and is back and forth. He said He would leave us the Holy spirit. Ive heard Jesus does stand up once in a while. If the Eucharist is Jesus then we should bow down and adore it. If the Eucharist is not Jesus but we adore it as if it were Jesus then we are still giving the adoration to Jesus where it is due.
So logically a Catholic is adoring Jesus no matter what. Now the problem comes in with protestant opinions (just pick one). If the Eucharist is Jesus and they spurn it and insult it then they insult Jesus directly, an unforgivable sin. If it is just bread then they insult Catholics. Either way the protestants have the delima not the Catholics here. Catholic practice can only give glory and honor to God. Protestant practice though can lead to serious sin. Protestants would be insulting God by not adoring the Eucharist or being unChristian by insulting others instead of showing forgiveness as Christ taught us.
For Catholics its win win.
For protestants it’s lose lose.
Read John 6 and study the writtings of the Church BEFORE we even had a bible. The Eucharist IS Jesus, there can be no doubt.
Praise God!
Jesus is God, so can’t he be in two places at once?Hi Malachi,Is Jesus seated at the right hand of the Father or not? Does He constantanly leave His seat and is back and forth. He said He would leave us the Holy spirit. Ive heard Jesus does stand up once in a while.God Bless
What do my ancestors have to do with it? Some of my ancestors were Americian Indians. One important point to remember. Your ancestors used to believe in the Body and Blood being Jesus. You actually have many more years of this Tradition in your history than not.
I don’t know if that it true. Would you’re opinion change if instead of talking about bread and wine we were talking about a golden statue? What if someone seriously believed the golden statue was Jesus, and worshiped that statue? They might be excused to some extent because they sincerely intended to worship Jesus, but this would clearly not be the ideal situation. If the Eucharist is Jesus then we should bow down and adore it. If the Eucharist is not Jesus but we adore it as if it were Jesus then we are still giving the adoration to Jesus where it is due. [emphasis added]

Oh. I thought you were a Methodical (sorry, couldn’t pass that up!)Angainor,
I think there’s a fairly simple answer to your question. Jesus said “This is my Body, this is my Blood.” Now whatever we think that means, it cannot possibly be idolatry to treat the Eucharist as being what Jesus said it is. However we explain it, clearly Jesus was saying that we should treat the Eucharist as His Body and Blood. And the only proper response to that is worship.
In Christ,
Edwin
P.S. I’m not Catholic–I’m an Episcopalian married to a Methodist, and these days consider myself a sort of Episcomethodist!
Ah, but we are not talking about a golden statute. We are talking about what Christ gave us, and what He said.I don’t know if that it true. It is not the flesh and blood of some guy who ran around Isreal 200 years ago. It is the flesh and blood of our Risen Savior. And if you have read Acts and the Gospels, you will note that the body of the Risen Savior was both the same and not the same, at the same time. It was the same, in that they recognized Him; and it was not the same, as it was not bound to earthly laws - e.g. it could pass into a locked room, appear and disappear, etc. The Eucharist is the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of our Risen Lord. What do you mean, the Eucharist is Jesus. I don’t understand. Jesus is a divine person. The Eucharist is, at most, Jesus’ flesh and blood. I don’t understand how the two can be equal. Hes just speaking of the fact that for 1500 years they believed in the true presence. What do my ancestors have to do with it? Some of my ancestors were Americian Indians.
I don’t know, It’s hard to imagine my ancestors believing that anyway.
Hi Jimmy ,Sure He can ,thats why He sent the Holy Spirit so He could take His seat.Jesus is God, so can’t he be in two places at once?
Doesn’t make sense… the Holy Ghost is a separate entity altogether than the Son (although one in One GodHead)Hi Jimmy ,Sure He can ,thats why He sent the Holy Spirit so He could take His seat.God Bless
