Guys and girls, you have all made very good points. I think the position I adopt is one against euthanasia, but I understand some cases are just very hard to have an opinion

I think posters are making light of a very serious ussie. The Bioethics center has the info Catholics hold.
I’m out.

I’m sorry you see it that way! I think you should be proud of your Catholic brothers and sisters, they have impacted my thoughts on this through sharing of deep personal testimonies!

Opinions don’t matter. Internet opinion culture is no substitute for Catholic teaching.

Euthanasia is intrinsically evil, and intrinsically evil acts are always immoral. The main problem in Catholic ethics today is that certain intrinsically evil acts are “popular”, and people try to find rationalizations to justify them: lying, contraception, use of abortifacients, various sexual sins are all intrinsically evil and never justified. It is a difficult teaching because it means that, in certain cases, people must suffer greatly, rather than sin.

I’ve also worked for many years with severely handicapped persons (physical disabilities, mental disabilities, mental illness). I’ve seen a lot of suffering, but I’ve also seen that these persons have substantial enjoyment of their lives and of their loved ones.
