Here is another verse on this subject. It is 24:30-31.
** [24:30] قُل لِّـلْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ يَغُـضُّوْا مِنْ اَبْصَارِهِمْ وَيَحْفَظُوْا فُرُوْجَهُمْؕ ذٰلِكَ اَزْكٰى لَهُمْؕ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ خَبِيْرٌۢ بِمَا يَصْنَعُوْنَ **
[24:30] Say to the believing men that they restrain their eyes and guard their private parts. That is purer for them. Surely, Allah is well aware of what they do.
[24:31] وَقُل لِّـلْمُؤْمِنٰتِ يَغْضُضْنَ مِنْ اَبْصَارِهِنَّ وَيَحْفَظْنَ فُرُوْجَهُنَّ وَلَا يُبْدِيْنَ زِيْنَتَهُنَّ اِلَّا مَا ظَهَرَ مِنْهَا وَلْيَـضْرِبْنَ بِخُمُرِهِنَّ عَلٰى جُيُوْبِهِنَّ وَلَا يُبْدِيْنَ زِيْنَتَهُنَّ اِلَّا لِبُعُوْلَتِهِنَّ اَوْ اٰبَآٮِٕهِنَّ اَوْ اٰبَآءِ بُعُوْلَتِهِنَّ اَوْ اَبْنَآٮِٕهِنَّ اَوْ اَبْنَآءِ بُعُوْلَتِهِنَّ اَوْ اِخْوٰنِهِنَّ اَوْ بَنِىْۤ اِخْوَانِهِنَّ اَوْ بَنِىْۤ اَخَوٰتِهِنَّ اَوْ نِسَآٮِٕهِنَّ اَوْ مَا مَلَـكَتْ اَيْمَانُهُنَّ اَوِ التّٰبِعِيْنَ غَيْرِ اُولِىْ الْاِرْبَةِ مِنَ الرِّجَالِ اَوِ الطِّفْلِ الَّذِيْنَ لَمْ يَظْهَرُوْا عَلٰى عَوْرٰتِ النِّسَآءِ وَلَا يَضْرِبْنَ بِاَرْجُلِهِنَّ لِيُـعْلَمَ مَا يُخْفِيْنَ مِنْ زِيْنَتِهِنَّؕ وَتُوْبُوْۤا اِلَى اللّٰهِ جَمِيْعًا اَيُّهَ الْمُؤْمِنُوْنَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُوْنَ
[24:31] And say to the believing women that they restrain their eyes and guard their private parts, and that they disclose not their natural and artificial beauty except that which is apparent thereof, and that they draw their head-coverings over their bosoms, and that they disclose not their beauty save to their husbands, or to their fathers, or the fathers of their husbands or their sons or the sons of their husbands or their brothers, or the sons of their brothers, or the sons of their sisters, or their women, or what their right hands possess, or such of male attendants as have no sexual appetite, or young children who have no knowledge of the hidden parts of women. And they strike not their feet so that what they hide of their ornaments may become known. And turn ye to Allah all together, O believers, that you may succeed.
In the above verse, it is apparant that face is not to be covered all the time. Specially in present times when it is necessary to identify oneself at security check posts, face has to be kept open. It is told to the ladies that they draw their head coverings over their bossoms, not over their face.
I agree that most Muslims are teaching that the faces of the ladies must be covered all the time. That is not the correct teaching of Islam. They are to be modest and careful. that is all. The present day Burqah is not the correct mode of Islamic dress. The Indian Mulla Muslims will not allow any one to wear the western suits (Coat + Tie ) for men. They would expect that all Muslims should wear a Dhoti (an open piece of cloth) as under garment.
The Muslism are lacking in many good things allowed by Islam. It is expected that Germans and Japanese and Canadians may become a Muslim. Shall some one expect that they will wear the Dhoti?? No. Every one will come in their own beautiful national dresses, kimonos etc.
Also, it is proved by an incident of the prophet walking back his wife at night. Two companions passed and kept at a careful distance avoiding the prophet and the lady.
The prophet called them back and told them to have a look. He presented his wife to them and said “Look here, she is my wife.”… If face was forbidden to be disclosed then why did the prophet Muhammad do that?? Why did he identify his wife to the two persons?? And how could he indentify her without showing her face??? It means that the persons had already known and seen her before too.
