Is family support necessary in order for me to join the RCIA?

I am wondering if it is possible to begin and complete the RCIA process without family or spousal support. I have been interested in the Catholic Church for most of my life (50 years). Was baptised in a Presbyterian Church, but have never regualrly attended or been a member of any demonination. Because of the poor academic standards in my town’s public schools, I attended Catholic Schools and maybe a seed was planted. My wife and family would not be actively opposed to my joining the church, but neither would they likely to join me in this journey.

Dear M,

Family support is not required for one to become a Catholic. Often the other members of the family will eventually enter the Church as well, as the result of the first convert. You and your family are in our preayers.
