Is famine possible in the United States?

World food reserves are at a very low level compared to forty years ago (less than a month of supply). Additionally, the world came very close to running out of corn a few years ago!

Economics is more than a science; it is also an art. I am still trying to put the pieces of this puzzle together. I will start with a statement made by our ambassador to the UN under the Clinton Administration. She said that food is a weapon, and we intend to use it! Wow! Who benefits from this policy? What incentive does the UN have in implementing this policy?

FDR said that nothing in politics is a coincidence. All the talk of NAFTA and free trade may just be rationalizations. In business we use to say that the deeper the bull **** the fatter the commission!

The IMF is destroying the dairy farmers in Jamaica. The US government is subsidizing the production of dried milk and shipping it to Jamaica at below the cost of production. Why? Does this action fit into the goal of using food as a weapon? This is not free trade.

Who has the self-interest of world power? Satan wants to control the world so that Satan can destroy the world. Pray for Mary’s plan for peace.

Sadly, for many Americans, hunger is a daily reality.:imsorry: I realize you are speaking of an across- the- board, full blown famine throughout the country, but we can’t ignore these sobering facts:
worldhunger.org/articles/Learn/us_hunger_facts.htm

Food banks are going bare in countless cities across the country as well. I’m sure many parishes :heaven:are doing their part to re-stock them, through food drives and church pantries.
May God help us all to feel other’s distress as keenly as our own and to work to feed all our hungry brethren, as Christ instructed us! :gopray2::angel1::gopray:

Is there a site on the Internet where we can monitor the world’s supply of food? How many days of food does the world have?

In 1960 the government had so much food stored, that all of those food bins looked like missiles ready to be launched to the moon. All of that is gone. The government “sold” much of our gain to the former Soviet Union at below cost and on credit! Did our government get paid? I doubt it. A sale is not a sale until the cash register rings.

They are doing this *again? *I first heard of this occurring, wow, in the late 70’s, early 80’s.

Funny, we just had a discussion about “Soylent Green” tonight at the dinner table!!!

The reason the corn supply went down is that we started putting it into our gas tanks - why? Ask the AGW carbon footprint people. It harms our engines and REDUCES gas mileage, yet we still have to use it. That should be stopped IMMEDIATELY.

We are in no danger of starving. Food production is certainly not at peak capacity.

Think about it for a moment. Grocery stores keep a 3 day inventory on hand. One significant event in any singular geographic location (Katrina in the south) and you have an immediate famine in that area that requires large scale state or national action to overcome.

However, all grocery stores require the use of money. If the dollar fails, then the grocery store will not be able to purchase new product and after three days, the entire nation will reliant upon what is in the house (www.foodinsurance.com).

And farmers are dependent upon the “honey bee”, which at the moment is experiencing a serious colony collapse due to pesticides. If something as small as the “honey bee” dissappears, the farms fail and a dominoe effect begins which may create “mini famines” in different locations.

Our food supply chain is so critically balanced that “yes”, famine in the US is a real possibility.

Famine is always possible and so is nuclear war, or an earthquake, or a hurricane. In my opinion, America has more than enough food to feed its citizens at the moment though - there’s a reason practically 1/3 of our citizens are obese.

The facts are this:

Farmers in the United States are paid billions of dollars every year.

articles.orlandosentinel.com/2012-05-10/opinion/os-ed-congress-farm-bill-051012-20120509_1_farm-bill-subsidies-farm-income

opinionator.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/03/01/dont-end-agricultural-subsidies-fix-them/

The point is say in the United States, they know how much corn, for example, Americans will buy each year. Let’s call it 100 billion bushels. That’s all they can sell. If just a handful of farms put more corn on the market, the price drops. Profits go down. It’s that simple.

In Detroit, some people are growing food and just giving it away. Here’s a program:

So, if we work together, we can end hunger in the United States.

Peace,
Ed

Americans are obese because they are on the SAD diet (Standard American Diet). Europe bans GMO. Americans eat it. Americans also eat High Fructose Corn Syrup and Trans Fatty Acids. Our bodies do not know what to do with these man-made non-foods! We need to be on the diet that God talks about in Genesis. Additionally, exercise is just as important as diet.

We do not obey God’s commandments. We have lost common sense and discernment as a result. We trust man instead of God, even with what we eat.

You made some valid points.

1/3 of our food would disappear if the honey bee disappeared. There are only 2 million bee colonies in the U.S., half as many colonies as we had in the 1950s. 1 million, or half of the bee colonies, are in the almond orchards every Janauary. Queen bees no longer live more than one year; they die in 6 - 9 months. Additionally, honey bees have four more pests that they did in 1965.

Because we are more evil than at the time of Noah, Satan is ready to take over the world and he intends to destroy all of God’s creation.

Corn, wheat, soybeans and rice are GMO crops. GMO is messing up the genetics in our crops and hurting our bodies. I refuse to eat corn, etc. that is GMO.

**The natural order is dependent on the spiritual order! ** Mary says that there will be physical changes on our planet. I suspect that that will negatively affect our delicate food supply. It is time to learn how to grow some of your own food using heirloom seeds and organic growing methods (self-sustainable agriculture).

I found out that Father Petar, a 61 year old priest, will read and announce three of the ten secrets three days before they actually happen. These secrets were given by the Virgin Mary as warnings and admonitions for the world to Mirjana, one of the Medjugorje visionaries.

Many believe that the warning will cause great anguish or pain, perhaps like a mini-judgment. This judgment will show us the full extent of our sins, and how we have offended God. Many think that we will experience this judgment physically, like a burning fire that will not consume us or cause death, but will be worse than death.

The consciousness of the world will be corrected. Many believers and non-believers will come to love God more through this heightened consciousness.

We know that God will give a miraculous sign for the world. We also know that those who have not converted will receive purification.

The ten chastisements will occur during the lifetimes of the visionaries and Father Petar. The youngest visionary, Jokov, was ten years old in 1981 when Mary first appeared. Father Petar is 61 years old. We should know, for the sake of the skeptics, if these ten secrets are bogus if they do not occur within the next ten years or so. (The average lifespan is 74 years.)

There is much that we do not know, of course. However, **we do know that we are very close to the end of God’s mercy and the beginning of God’s justice. **When all six visionaries receive all ten secrets, the chastisements will begin. I think that four visionaries have received all ten secrets, and two the visionaries have received nine secrets.

I think that all of this falls within a biblical context. **God renewed past generations through purification, and He destroyed what could not be purified. What has happened in the past will happen again. **

Famine will only happen if we run out of diesel, electricity, or money.

The 10 chastisements will break the back of evil. I have the feeling that famine will be the result of some of the chastisdementsl. Remember those four horsemen.

Of course it’s possible…thousands upon thousands upon thousands go hungry every day here in the US…it si quite possible…the Great Depression wasn’t that long ago…and many went hungry.

Ok, ok, diesel, electricity, money, or acts of God.

Famine: widespread shortage of food due to external forces.

My definition.

Our fiat money will eventually collapse. Global hyperinflation is directly ahead because there is $4 trillion of unbacked government monopoly money making its way through the global economy. It takes about 18 months for that funny money to cause inflation. I expect that that number to swell to $20 trillion as most countries will print money faster than at any time in the history of the world. Fiat money is toast.

The dollar will probably lose another 50% of its value in the next 3 - 4 years. Food will be the new gold.

If there is a famine, IMO it is more likely that it will be caused by the fact that our basic staple crops are grown in only a very few genetically homogenous varieties. These varieties are highly selected for large yields, low irrigation needs, pesticide and herbicide resistance and hardiness. But if some previously unknown crop ailment (fungus, pest, plant disease, etc) comes along that is fatal to one or more of these very few varieties, we could lose vast quantities of our crop yields almost overnight.

This is why we’ve chosen heirloom vegetables for our home garden. If nothing else, we’re helping keep the biodiversity of nature going so there is potentially a seedbank sitll existing if the industrial crop machine goes kaput. Besides, they’re tasty. What’s not to like? 👍
