Somebody’s right. things depend on how you define feminism. but, then, (seriously) it depends on how you define “equal” as well. Obviously men and women are not made the same, and it’s hard to imagine forcing the issue of equality without defining it.

but, that leads me to say, in a scripture forum, to suggest limiting the discussion to what the Biblical definition of equality is. I’m not sure the Bible even says men and women are equal. It suggests a vague sense of something like equality, in saying that God made mankind, male and female.

I’m not sure the bible, NT or OT, ever forces the issue of equality, to begin with.

Catholicism now declares that men and women are of equal worth, dignity, value, etc.
But I frankly think that if you just take the Biblical passages at face value, the Bible itself doesn’t:shrug:

That’s why you don’t always take the Bible at face value. Many Christian denominations have the problem of taking the Bible 100 % literal. I remember on facebook being in a Bible group when a female quoted Scripture and a guy came on telling her to be silent. That is not how Catholics interpret it. We have more resources for our faith than just the Bible alone at face value precisely because of problems like these.

Sure, they “share” power, but in different ways.

Congress or the Supreme Court can’t send in the Seals to kill Obama or rescue hostages. Only the President can.
In a real sense the President has all the power, and the other two branches can only block him after-the-fact if the President really wants to do something.

I would humbly suggest that modern Americans have no idea of the nature of feminism because the Communist influence co-opted this pro-life movement. Susan B. Anthony, along with the American Medical Association, had abortion outlawed as destructive to the health and well-being of women. The endless columns of newspaper ads offering abortion to women reflected the widespread practice that ceased overnight. After voting rights for women were attained came pursuing equity in salaries and civil rights.

Wealthy New York Communist and husband-beater, Betty Freidan, inserted herself into this milieu to co-opt the grass-roots feminist movement. Freidan was aided and abetted by Gloria Steinem, who had made a pilgrimage to Communist Russia and returned with financing for the nominally feminist MS Magazine that was underwritten by the sex trade, including the Playboy Foundation; and Planned Parenthood. College-based feminists seeking salary equity and civil rights openly commented at the time on Gloria Steinem’s strange ascent and sought answers as to who she was and where she had come from, unaware of her ties to Communist Russia.

In May 2010, Sarah Palin addressed the conservative Republican-based Susan B. Anthony List, a pro-life lobbying group. Sarah Palin said the Susan B. Anthony List was “returning the women’s movement back to its original roots” and voiced her hope of creating a new “conservative feminist identity.” Compare this with the Communist-rooted Progressives and the homosexual hit-woman who bullied the American Medical Association into submission. Feminism became popular and political, and took its real roots, under the heavy funding of the Rockefeller family. One member of the family admitted that there were two primary reasons they were funding feminist activities. 1) To get both of a couple working and thus increase the tax base, and 2) to give government greater access to children to “educate” them “properly.”

It can describe the role of one bringing water to a one dying of thirst, a life-saver. As God aids people and is the Supreme Being; and holy angels aid people and are created higher than man; so females, in being called to service to males, may be accounted superior, not inferior, by God. God cursed Lucifer and his seed with the Woman & Seed. The Bible does not rationalize male privilege but underpins male responsibility, including a male-only priesthood to atone for the “Sin of Adam.”

From the first, looking at Mother Seton, commissioned to educate girls, widened to males as well as females at the request of pioneer families, one cannot state the Church in America has inhibited woman.
