Is filal peity in Confucianism compatible and/or similar to the commandment of honouring your father and mother?

The commandment to honour your father and mother seems pretty self-explanatory even though there is more in depth stuff in the Catechism.I also know that in Confucianism, filal piety is a major teaching.Is it compatible and/or similar to the the commandment to honour your father and mother (not including ancestral worship).If anyone knows of any in depth stuff about the commandment to honour your father and mother I would be tahnkful of that.Thank you for your time.

The “people to people” commandments are found in natural law and are universal. Nearly every culture has laws/religious tenets about honoring one’s parents/the elderly. God wrote this law into the human heart.

This commandment does not, however mean that as adults we must do everything our parents tell us. We need to use prudential judgment in such matters, but we also cannot berate our parents or belittle them or treat them poorly. I hope that helps.
