Wait, you don’t know? We aren’t Sola Scriptura Christians. The Church has teaching authority beyond what’s written in the Bible itself.

It’s my understanding that the Church teaches that one cannot change their gender, and that gender dysphoria is a medical issue requiring professional treatment.

Ah yes. It’s so easy to just revert to we are not sola scriptura. What happens if we focus on the dignity and respect of the individual as Poe Francis advises in Laetitia Amoris?

Granted you will likely say Pope Francis had spoken out decisively about the gender binary. I believe in time the church’s stance on this will change.

I hope the OP finds peace, love, and acceptance.

Thank you for the lively debate Capta(name removed by moderator)rudeman, and I hope you have a merry and joyful Christmas.

Then you must not understand the Church or the nature of Truth. Similar things people wish would change but won’t because that would be straying from Truth include: acceptance of homosexual “marriage,” women priests, and acceptance of artificial contraception.

I am sorry that you are felling this way about your gender @Hello3

But please do not make a permanent decision for what might be temporary feelings. Even if you feel something really strongly, you might feel different later, and once you take such a drastic action to remove something from your body you obviously can’t put it back later if your feelings change.

Please don’t do it.

I am now a Catholic, however a wrong or unclear answer could possibly change that statement and quite possibly those who are not a Catholic. That would be a sin against God, by way of example.

Getting breast reduction surgery, since you want a clear answer, is a lack. Because you lack a clear answer and this forum and members could provide confirmation of your very own feeling of rightness or sinfulness of a future act, you provide us a hint as to the nature of, for example, my very own personal lack of expertise in “getting”, “breast”, “reduction”, “surgery” et al. My post could only highlight the guidance of those who are actually qualified, tenured and willing in those areas regarding sin.

However, in “lack” I’m quite supreme, since I lack quite a lot, and I lack you ( puns ). If the surgery endangers your physical body, enjoyment, posture and ministry, it may be a heroic sacrifice that is unsuitable for you.

Sorry for the length of this response. I too am struggling with word reduction process, and that is a lack of mine. Please consult with your very own priest, bishop, archbishop before proceeding.

I am beginning to suspect that the OP isn’t ever coming back.
