Really =.= So, please, can you explain to me what the Good News is? Because one of us missed it completely.
I had understood that Christ - who is God - taught us that life is
eternal, and that the physical death is no death at all. In fact, before Christ the people believed that the dead were “fallen asleep” and even Christ said to the relatives of the girl: “
do not cry: she is not dead, but asleep”. This is a great mystery. He would later say: “
I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die.” And he insisted: “
I tell you the truth, a time is coming and has now come when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God and those who hear will live.”
Indeed He scandalized the teachers of the Law when He said: “
Your father Abraham rejoiced to see My day, and he saw it and was glad.” and later: “
about the resurrection of the dead–have you not read what God said to you, I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’? He is not the God of the dead but of the living. You therefore do greatly err.”
So it was my understanding that Christ came to give eternal life, or rather, that by taking flesh and experiencing death He stepped over death and raised all the members of His body to eternal life.
That, of course, is a major misunderstanding on my side if instead it is true that God causes the death of every person
