I assume you are talking about the now absent GL. I critiqued his thesis when it was a web site. I made about 20 suggestions for corrections and he ignored all but two or three. I bought and read his book. His thesis is buried in an ocean of irascible comments, but it is the comments that made it readable. He does have a delightful sense of humor. In addition I am a bibliophile and his paperback has the highest quality of all the paperbacks in my library. Are you aware of his first book?

Yes, parts of his novel are online somewhere. Sounds like your experience over your suggestions was the same as mine.

Do you have a problem with the way I have identified the material and the spiritual?

We have spiritual feelings and yearnings which come and go, but this doesn’t appear to be explained, you appear to use the word to mean something entirely different.

On the material side, perhaps I’m confused by remarks about electron shells. What happens, in terms of space, when (a) there’s a lonesome proton, (b) the proton captures a passing electron to become a hydrogen atom, (c) some time later the electron is stripped leaving a lonesome proton.

*The grains of sand are like the points of discrete space (s-points) from which matter is derived and the water is like the continuous space that represents the spiritual. That is not science, it probably isn’t metaphysics, I like to think of it as metascience. *

The allusion obviously does something for you and JD but still flies over my head - I can’t really see what the purpose is of explaining the world in terms of these spaces and how it might help us.

By the way, I happen to agree with your first sentence except for the phrase, “…it miscomprehends what is known”. Can you enlighten me on that score?

Hi, JDaniel,

I was not fussing at anyone or in any way trying to criticize anyone other then myself. I really have reached the end of of mental tether … My guess is that we will meet again on another threadd.

But. let me hazard a response on your inquiriy about God having given us our minds - good ones at that! Yes indeed - He expects us to use them - to improve them with discipline, study, additonal reading and dialogue! Based on the way my two remaining neurons have been firing … I’d say that one can only take this particular topic so far - and then we either go off topic our hit a wall. Having done that on more then one occasion I have had numerous opportunities to view the near dents I left in the wall and serious ones i left on my head!

Seriously, you guys have a great time … I’ve had to contact my ‘designated driver’ to get me moving - my head is still spinning from the content.

Oh, and in answer to inocente’s question… I guess I really am a ‘Puritan’ in the sense he defined! (I’m sure that Cotton Mather would turn over in his grave hearing this! )

You may be correct. But, why, then, did God give us our minds and the ability to think? Why, then, did He tempt (if I may use such an abusive word) us with revelation? Why does Scripture show many instances of phrases such as, “God is in everything?” How does God cause us to trustfully surrender to Divine Providence?

Surely, if I supposedly surrender to His Divine Providence, and I do it, or believe that I am doing it, by my very own accomplishment, am I actually surrendering to God’s Will? Or, do I think I still have some superiority of self agency (that ought not be there for it to be a perfect “surrender”)? To truly surrender to God’s Providence shouldn’t I relinquish all semblance of “self–ishness?”

It might to some extent. God seems to have given Lorna Byrne the gift of being able to “see” angels. To my knowledge, the Church has neither endorsed, nor sanctioned her. Is it possible that the Holy Spirit gives some people capabilities and others not? Is it possible that God has given Yppop, Qoeleth, and others, this possible pseudo-revelation for a purpose? Shall we toss it aside simply because it offends our pre-conceptions?

Oh, great! Now you warn us!

I would say god is not nothingness because god is not a thing. When there is nothingness and creation is not and there is only raw material. God is there. We are there. In an uncreated sense. But not as god. God is not something nor nothing and these two states are states of “things” hence the gematria. God is beyond “things”
