Is God punishing the Irish Catholic Church for her wrongdoings?

The Church in Ireland is in great danger now and I worry what the future will hold. Past wrongdoings coming to light in recent years and alot of people have fallen away because of it.

The recent findings in Tuam have upset and hurt people more. I can’t help but wonder is God punishing the church for her past wrongdoings now? I honestly believe satan got into the Irish church for those awful things to have happened. I probably will be hated for this but I love Jesus and this is the church Jesus founded, I will focus on Him and what He taught us and Him alone. Even if nearly every single person living in Ireland (who are Catholic) leave the church…what does it mean if a selected few stay faithful?
For me I am just a young Irish Catholic wanting to save my soul and stay faithful to Christ.
 
We remain a Church of Saints and sinners. It is horrible to think of the deeds done in God’s name, but we must remember that the Church on earth remains imperfect. We pray for both the survivors of abuse and the perpetrators. And we look forward to the day when our Church (the People of God) is reconciled fully and completely with God.

Was any other group, religious or secular, doing anything for these unwed mothers or their infants? Was their track record any better? Doubt it. The church did the best it could in seriously trying times. The church in Ireland is just a scapegoat.

My father was from Galway, the stories he told were of a very harsh existence in a very impoverished land.

How bizarre! A relative I was talking with yesterday said the same thing as you. Her exact words were ‘The church did the best it could in seriously trying times’ she also said if the nuns hadn’t of taken them in they would have been on the streets.
She thought also the Irish media have it in for the church in Ireland and nothing will stop them.

Pray for the church, pray for those who are hurt and disallusioned, pray for those who remain faithful but apprehensive. And I agree, stay faithful to Christ. Men, who are subject to sin, should never be looked up to and held up on a false pedestal because of their position, priest, etc. Mother’s should watch their children like hawks. Never give your children over to an institution.
 
How can satan plant himself into the irish catholic church? That is to be examined by the Holy See.
