Is going to a chiropractor sinful?

I don’t really know. I guess kind of a mix of all that occult/new age stuff that confuses the noodles (for loss of a better word) out of me. I’ve heard accupuncture is of the “occult” before, so I kind of assumed chiropractics were too.

Maybe it’s just my scrupulousity at work.
Is accupuncture of the occult? I’m not really sure if I’ve heard that. Maybe just my mind playing tricks on me.

Not sinful, but be careful. If you’re having to go to the chiropractor every month, then they aren’t solving your issues. There are good chiropractors, but there are a lot who have also killed people by not being careful. Try a PT, they get to the root of the issue. As do the good chiropractor. The not so great ones just adjust you and schedule you for an appointment in a month.

I know that this is an ancient thread, but I just stumbled upon it, and while I resisted the urge to reply to any of the claims, this final above post put me over the edge. Chiropractors absolutely have NOT killed a lot of people, or anyone, by their adjustments. We have the lowest insurance premiums of any healthcare provider, because chiropractic is so safe. Surveys repeatedly show that patients are more satisfied with their chiropractors than with any other healthcare provider

While I also strongly disagree that chiropractors are anything like physical therapists or that there is anything wrong with making regular (weekly, monthly, quarterly) visits to a chiropractor, I’ll leave it at that. The scientific literature pertaining to chiropractic is impressive and growing, and it’s very positive

And although the OP’s question has been answered, to make things more definitive, let me just say that the Vatican’s International Federation of Catholic Medical Associations formally recognizes the Association of Catholic Chiropractors as an affiliate. Enough said.

To all the chiropractic patients who stepped up to support this great profession, you are wonderful. The success you have had with chiropractic care is inspiring. God bless!

Where did anyone get the idea that going to a chiropractor is sinful?

I like chiropractors because they actually do something for you when you go in, like adjust your back. If you go to a regular doctor for back pain, he or she will probably just prescribe some pain pills, which are bad for you in the long run.

Go if you feel that they help you. If they don’t help you, then stay home.

Go to a real doctor, I suggest, if you are really sick.

Alternative medicines are a vanity and an extravagance. How is it acceptable that Westerners are spending $100’s on false medicine (like herbs, acupuncture, massage, etc.), when people are dying in other parts of the world from diseases that can be cured for a few dollars.

Not sure what the Church teaches about it, but it is not a smart decision.

They cannot fix your issues…only prolong them. When going to school for their certification (it’s a Dr. degree…but at their own “special schools”…not real universities), they actually take courses in making a patient’s issues last a lifetime. Two words: job security.

They present themselves as a Doctor for medical purposes, but they are no more of a medical doctor than Dr. Dan…my preacher. But they have one of the best lobbies in the business, so they get away with it. They make false claims on what their treatments can do.

I’m probably missing some…
Just speak with any Physical Therapist. They often get chiropractor mess-ups.
While I am not a fan of chiropractic, this is just nutty. They go to schools that instruct them on how to prolong their patient’s ills in order to promote chiropractic job security? What have you been smoking?
