This is a great answer. Yes, this is it. I posted here different questions and this is not the first time doctors are called stupid. Maybe in this case the poster didn’t mean it but when i hear “your doctor doesn’t know” i’m starting to get tired.

I was not upset with any answer here except the “if your doctor doesn’t know” in which an imaginary doctor is made stupid.
:hug1:

While some people here make those assumptions, I do want to defend the poster who said that. She said “if” the doc doesn’t know. This is a valid thing to point out because some doctors really don’t know about it and you want to make sure your doctor is familiar with pro-life/pro-chastity procedures. Some are not through no fault of their own. I know Lizaanne from other threads, and I know she doesn’t think doctors are inherently dumb or evil.

From my honest perspective this is all just a big misunderstanding based on the heated discussions that tend to go on around here. Big hugs all around, people. Also remember: we are all brethren in Christ:thumbsup:.

Let me add my immature comments here…

I can just imagine hubby and I if we need such a test done:

Lab worker: “Okay you guys, just be sure to have your sample back in the lab within 30 minutes of the act.”

Us: “Yeah sure…hey…you guys gotta bathroom around here?” :D:D:p:p

seriously though, if they have a special cloistered room for guys to jack it, I’d think they’d let a couple go in there for their, ah, “sample” :p:o
There are no immature comments, only questions about things you don’t know. It’s a learning process. No one is going to expect you to know everything.

<<<<EDIT sorry, just realized this was not a post from the OP, but from you WG!! 😃 But I’ll leave it in case it is helpful, and not demonizing. 😉

Most fertility clinics (most, not all) will have private rooms for the collection of samples. Be aware though, they typically have pornography in them, magazines or videos. If you don’t what that to be there, you should be able to ask them to remove it from the room you will be using. The clinic I worked at did often have spouses go in the room together - how the collected the sample is unknown to us, unless it was via a condom (regular or perforated). The just left it in the room when the left and it was retrieved by lab staff. If it was in a condom, the filled condom was placed in a sterile collection jar and left on the counter.

Ask a LOT of questions about the facility, and even consider a visit before hand so you are prepared for what to expect, and ease as much anxiety as possible. Requiring a man to “perform” (even if it is having sex with his own wife) can be incredibly stressful, and sometimes impossible under the circumstances.

This forum is not what I expected. I came here last year when i decided to become a Catholic to find more answers. There were very few people who gave me real helpful answers. They know who they are and i am grateful to them.
However this forum is a great disappointment for me. Maybe it’s time to say goodbye and use my time for something better.
I came here last year too and have had the opposite experience. So many people were helpful and kind that I instantly became hooked to this site. I love it here.

Just from this thread, it seems like you have gotten worked up over nothing? Maybe a break is a good idea to clear your head. I hope you can come back someday and really benefit from all the great, knowledgeable people here. 🙂

No one said doctors are stupid. You are taking her post and adding words to it and that’s not right! All she said was IF your doctor doesn’t know about the condoms, find another doctor. That’s it! And she knows what she is talking about. You might actually learn something from her. But what do I know, I’m a homeschooling, extended breastfeeding, granola eating lady…who’s father happens to be a doctor! 😉

LOL!!!

Most CLINICs will have a room… My poor DH went to a lab… they pointed him to a PUBLIC, multiple stall Bathroom… He’s like… ummmm, “can’t you get arrested for that???” 😊

Oh dear!

Forgive my stupidity. but what the heck is a perforated Condom? I thought the Church was against ALL condom use.

:ROTFL:

And yes, Lizaanne, my post was an immature comment, not a question. 😉 hahaha

Hubby and I really are 6 year olds at heart - we love joking around about anything and everything within reason. Although I’ll admit - hubby loves making people uncomfortable more than I do. The man has no shame…I LOVE IT!!!👍

A condom that’s been perforated…(poked with a hole)

Condom use as contraception is wrong…if there is a hole, enough semen can get through, while leaving enough to test.

Hope that makes sense.

It does. And you have helped me come to a very important decision. Thank you. 👍

Okay, I really don’t want to hijack the thread here, but this raises a question for me:

We all know that there is sperm in pre-ejaculate and enough of it to get a woman pregnant. Knowing that, why is it a sin for the couple to pull out and let it go in the cup rather than a condom and let the pre-ejaculate do its job, rather than poking a teensy hole in the condom which doesn’t allow (by comparison) THAT many more sperm through than what already GOT through in the pre-ejaculate?

(and that may be the most graphic question I have ever asked! :o:eek:)

Yes it does raise some interesting questions my friend. p.m. me if you want to discuss this. Peace 🙂

The same reason that coitus interuptus is not allowed.

As for testing, the man has one climax, and the semen is divided by the use of the perforated condom.

This site can be good to find theological answers, sometimes. But some of the members really misrepresent the Church, in my opinion. Anyone just dropping in here as a newbie to Catholicism would probably go away and find another Church. I just try to take what is positive, and ignore the rest.

It has nothing to do with the *amount *of semen, it has everything to do with a completed act of intercourse.

There are 2 things that i acctually leaned from this thread. The answer to my acctually question “is it a sin or not” and a new expression “panties in a bunch” which i didn’t know as english is not my mother toung. I amused myself seaching it on the internet and finding what it means. And this is what i found:
  1. When a person overreacts to a trifling insult or barb, or to a joke.
  2. When someone acts in an anal-retentive manner, and makes a big fuss out of a relatively minor problem.
As for the rest I am sorry but I will not take medical advices from a stranger on an internet forum no matter how qualified he/she says he is and especcilyh since this forum is supposed to be a religios forum and not a medical one. It is too early for me, I am too young and too freshly married to think of fertily doctors and advices yet. When and if in the future i will want this information i will seach for a doctor as my opinion and belief is that doctors know what they are doing.

The only purpose of my question was to find out if it is a sin or not.

Contrary to what people think this post didn’t make me angry and i am not angry on the poster who uses the panty expression and by the use of it acctully admits to a trifle or minor insult. You are a sweet person and by reading your posts i understand that you really want to help people with your advices and i don’t doubt that you also have the knowledge. But you might take a little care of the tone you use when you do it.

I am dissappointed on this forum in general and after this thread i started to ask myself if it worth to loose my time here in endless conversations and contradictions.

When i entered last year the Catholic Church i was extatic and when i found this forum i thought i will speak with Catholics and i thought this is a big family. However there were many things i did not like.

-i will repeat myselft and say i don’t like that in many threads (not only mine but other poeple’s also) doctors are considered that they don’t know what they are doing. In one thread somwebody even calls a specific doctor stupid

-some people are rude and there is an anger or a cheap cruelty in their posts. I read also misoginic post and discriminating posts

-some pople believe that they know better then anybody else. I was called illogical one time because i dared to have a different oppinion

-i was told that most probably i led a sinful life because i have bad dreams
  • i was toold that real love is not based on “whimpsy feelings” after i said i belive in love and feelings in a marriage and my marriage is based on them. So my love for my husband is just whimpsy feelings
-some people here comment who is sinful and who is not, who will go to hell and who will go to heaven. I thought only God decides that

-i don’t like that on this forum working mothers are considered somehow less mothers then the ones who stay at home and homeschool. My mother and my grandmother both worked. Consider that many women don’t have the finacial possibility of staying at home. That doe not make them bad mothers.

I can continue but whatever i think i said enough and i will think over if i want to stay here or not.

The most remarkable thing about this site is that you will be preached at and condemned for your thoughts and opinions. You will be slammed and called disrespectful for asking an innocent question. In psychological terms, there are a lot of people who lack appropriate ego boundaries. There is an inordinate amount of pathology here for some reason. I don’t really know why. I doubt that this is a characteristic of Catholics in general. But there is some value here if you ignore the crackpots. I used to engage them, but now I try to ignore them, or treat them nicely while I pity them. You will also find a lot of illogic passing as logic.

I have found that the valuable advice here far outweighs the critical or erroneous advice. I’ve learned things here that I would never have otherwise known, and I’ve also read wrong things that have led me to research a bit and find out the truth. I’ve also received support from people who believe the same as me.

All up, this forum has enhanced my faith to a level I never thought I’d get to.

I did drop out of a parenting forum because of the attacks and political correctness, but there was not enough benefit in that one to outweigh the bad stuff.

cristyd, I hope you stay, or at least return after leaving, because there are some real diamonds in the rough here, once you are able to to tune out the others.
