Is having homosexual acts illegal in a country correct or incorrect?

No because I see it as an adulterer is someone who is having an affair, where as the ssc are in a committed relationship to each other.

We just see things differently regarding certain relationships that exist.
Well, you’re just being arbitrary here.

“I can say that adulterers aren’t happy but those in committed relationships (like homosexuals) can be happy”.

I could just as easily say, “I can say that homosexuals aren’t happy whereas adulterers are happy because they have new sex all the time”.

Not really what I mean.

Two people (ssc) in a committed relationship with each other and no other, can be happy. This can’t be compared to a couple( married)in which one is an adulterer.

Know what I mean?

2 homosexuals engaged in homosexual activity can be superficially happy.

Just like an adulterer can be superficially happy–“Hey! I’m having the best sex of my life! Forbidden sex is oh-so-juicy!”

But, like the adulterer who we all know cannot be happy indulging in this sin, so, too, are the homosexuals deeply and profoundly unhappy in their sin.

No one is happy indulging in that which is contrary to our human nature.

I am saying that it’s a good argument for why it shouldn’t be accepted.
OK, but this thread isn’t about “accepting” homosexuality in some general sense. It is specifically about whether or not it should be illegal. But since you have already admitted that it should not be made illegal, we can leave it there.

There are always many angles to discuss topics here on the forum. 🙂

I don’t know…

I see a few couples (ss) in happy relationships, guess you’ll have to convince them that they are not deeply and profoundly happy.
🤷

Again, a serial adulterer can be quite happy.

That shouldn’t really be the criterion, should it?

Adults who believe in Santa can be quite happy…but I wouldn’t endorse their error.

Would you?

The adulterer is having an affair, that is the difference I mean.

Yes they can be happy, but they are dishonouring their spouse so I wouldn’t endorse it.

Substitute fornicator to eliminate the 3rd party.

I think that homosexual relationships dishonor each other, so…

But doesn’t every sexual act outside of marriage dishonour the body?

Shouldn’t any form of sexual act of self, or with another then be made illegal.

All adults who are cohabitating will then be punished, their freedom of choice taken from them…

Singling out one form of fornication over all others is like a form of persecution I think.

You have to understand that PRmerger is not suggesting that any of these acts ought to be illegal, only that they are harmful. For proof of that, see post 171. I know. It contradicts an earlier post by PRmerger, but what are you goin’ to do?..🙂

Em…no.

You need to show where I said they should be illegal.
And then where I said they shouldn’t be illegal.

That’s what contradiction means, LbN.

What post did I say they should be illegal?

And therein lies the rub. One can absolutely believe that such acts are immoral, but others may disagree completely, as I do. So the bottom line is that such acts therefore can never be deemed illegal or punishable by law, ever.

Just as some might think blind devotion to a religion, be it Christianity or Islam also disordered.

How about we start judging people by the content of their character and not what’s between their legs or what they do in their bedrooms.
So crude again. No one is judging you except on what flows from your mind onto messages ; your character…

Sure.

And just to be clear: laws do take away someone’s “freedom of choice”. That’s just the nature of what laws do.

This takes away my “freedom of choice”.

As does this:

But there’s nothing wrong with limiting someone’s “freedom of choice”–it’s what you cede sometimes in order to live in a civilized society.

OK, let’s stick with your second interpretation. But when someone like simpleas gets the wrong idea about your position, do not let that person persist in misunderstanding you, but clarify your position, as you just did here, so that the misunderstanding will not persist. Otherwise it looks like you secretly want it to be illegal, but are unwilling to commit to that position openly.

Fair enough:

I don’t want it to be illegal.

But am not 100% committed to the idea.

Someone who has a very good argument may be able to convince me.

If one is to judge a person (assess their character) one rather needs to examine their acts. What else is there? Certainly what’s between their legs does not matter - but what they do does matter. And the bedroom is not a place with the unique quality that no wrong can be done there!
