Is human evolution accepted by the Catholic Church?

If you mean the account in Luke, it symbolically links Christ to Adam, portraying him as the new Adam. I doubt that particular genealogical account was ever meant to be understand as a literal record – that would make the earth only a few thousand years old in any event – which you’re certainly free to believe, but it isn’t good science or history.
Is the doctrine of Jesus being born of a virgin symbolic and not literal as well… given the criteria of science and history?

If you have Netflix, please watch “Expelled, No Intelligence Allowed”. It’s worth the time.
Catholics, agnostics, atheists and such, you can go fly a kite because I accept the biblical story of creation. I also teach it to my own children. If you ever study mind brain theory, man’s experience of time is relative. God created time for man to experience Him. For Him and His Angels and Saints they transcend time and space. The relivance of geneology is not even the real point. You either accept it or reject it. But pushing evolution down people’s throats to satisfy you own agendas is cruel and unacceptable. Please respect us fundamentalist evangelicals for what we belief as truth. All Christianity believed this for most of our existence and if it was good enough for them it’s good enough for me. And I’m a scientice/math teacher in training on the graduate level. My IQ is also 143. So even dumb smart people can believe in something that holds value. And I don’t even have difficulty talking in terms of millions of years since the age of the dinosaurs. Go figure. I guess I’m schizophrenic…🤷

A theory is just that, a theory. It is not something that can be proved. Once its proved as factual it is no longer a theory, but rather a fact. There are way too many unexplained things in the natural world that scientists are really baffled over. Watch the movie I suggested and you’ll find some of them mentioned by more capable professionals.

In addition to the above question… What is the purpose of the Israelites keeping such meticulous genealogical records if it was simply symbolic? … Were Abraham, Isaac and Jacob symbolic figures in Jesus’ genealogy or real historic individuals?

If human evolution is valid then the core facts in the Bible are invalidated.
In fact the key theme of the Old Testament would be completely destroyed.
One of the main prophecies about Jesus coming as Messiah rests on a specific blood line (documented in the Bible). The Jews were meticulous about keeping records of blood lines because they knew of the promise. Jesus was called the second Adam. ( Through one man sin entered the human race, likewise through one man we have been given redemption … somewhere in the NT) If there is a second Adam… There had to be a first… If the Bible is true.
And if it is true, without question, that Mary was a virgin when she bore Jesus … why is it so difficult to believe that God could create a man and woman to parent the human race?

Human evolution is a faith based theory with no physical fossil evidence that was created and promoted by atheists that despise the thought of being accountable to any higher being other than science.
First off if you talk to an ortho jew about the blood line of Jesus, they will tear you apart with OT scripture. I don’t remeber all the arguements, but I asked a Rabbi once and he schooled me pretty well using Jewish law and OT.

As for evolution, who cares? You argue about how we got here, ppl set up creationists websites, and prechers dedicate their entire lives to fighting against the theories of men while people suffer, go hungry, and get sick. Honestly sometimes I think this bickering is the greatest sin of all cuz it distracts us from living the word and traps us into trying to prove our interpretation against others. And yes, even biblical literalists disagree with eachother, the hunt for the “right” denomination is just stupid, even though all claim to be bible-based ministries.

Just so you know, I’m not rly catholic, tho im leaning in the direction towards Rome:) It’s goof to ask questions an challenge others on the nature of their faith, but don’t forget about the people out there that dont have the time or knowledge to question.
