Is Immaculee Ilibagiza trustworthy?

She writes and does retreats where she talks about her experiences in the Rwandan genocide and the apparitions in Kibeho, Africa. I read and very much enjoyed “Our Lady of Kibeho” which she wrote, and I also enjoyed a rather expensive ($90 maybe?) retreat with her but I’m just wondering if anyone out there can verify her trustworthiness. She seems like a sincere rosary-saying woman, but I remember hearing she got a divorce (it could be just a civil divorce, and I don’t think she’s remarried or anything). I also know there’s people out there who like to take advantage of Catholics who are drawn to private revelations (like Christina Gallagher, an Irish woman who uses gullible Catholics to get rich). The reason I ask is that she has an impressive online store of items and she undoubtedly makes a lot of money from it. Does anyone know if she lives luxuriously? I really felt like she helped me become more devout, and even though my faith is well strong enough where I certainly don’t need Immaculee as a figure to base my faith on, I must admit I would be crushed if I found out she was fake. Can anyone tell me more about her?
 
She suffered greatly…losing her entire family except for one brother (and i think an aunt or cousin) who was not in Rwanda, i would think any $ she makes goes towards rebuilding Rwanda and for the Survivors.
 
She’s a really good speaker, I heard her on EWTN, nothing about her personally pinged my “caution meter”.

At the same time, she’s been associated on the lecture circuit with New Age, motivational speakers like Wayne Dwyer.

I guess my advice is to take away whatever is good in her books and talks, and reject anything that’s fishy or off. Don’t expect her to be infallible.
