People cough after and in Mass and many people that are allergic to smoke are allergic to incense.

When I picture Our Lord on the cross with blood all over him, it kind of becomes a non issue.

Generally yes.

Should have (at least) adequate ventilation when using.
Do we use the same thing as incense sticks used in Asia? I can understand that point of the article because those incense sticks do produce a lot ash. I remember having allergic reaction once to those incense sticks. But I’ve never had allergic reaction to the incense used in Mass.

Thanks for the reality check, but you could probably go around posting that exact sentence on every thread in the entire forum. What makes you say it here?

Don’t mention this in the UK… We’ve already have a ban on smoking in public, I’ve been wondering how long it would be before somebody tried to ban the use of candles and incense in church for the same reason!

Argh! I’ve already seen parishes with electronic “candles”. I was sad when I saw them, something like that is unheard of in the part of the world where I come from. Granted my current Roman Catholic parish is an old parish and is worried of fire hazzards, they have removed all candles from the nave and only have them in the sanctuary around the altar. I’d rather have that than those fake candles.

First thing that came to mind. 🙂

I suppose what made me think that was how incense is used at Mass. It’s purpose trumps my concern for myself. Not saying it’s silly to discuss, but that is how I feel personally.

ymmv

Many years back, when my daughter was 5 or 6, we visited a church that had a fake window with artificial flowers outside it to the side of the sanctuary. I presume there was some structural or site reasons that they could not have a real window. My daughter asked what it was, and I explained. She was shocked: "God would not want anything fake in His House!!"
