Is Islam a threat to Christianity around the globe?

Is the rise of Islam in America and around the world going to be dangerous to the spread and livelihood of Catholicism. I’ve read that the ultimate goal of Islam is to rule the world and to convert every non-believer(infidel) to Islam and if they cannot be converted then murder is justified. This I’ve also read is derived from their “most holy texts” the Qur’an and the Hadith of Bukhari. If you ask a devout Muslim about such claims he is liable to say anything in order to placate the situation because derived from the same texts is that it is appropriate to deceive or lie to infidels for the spread of Islam.

I’m still very young in my Catholic faith but what I understand is that the epitome of being a Catholic is to be a saint(spiritual perfection) by loving the Lord our God with all our heart, mind, and soul; and to love our neighbors as ourselves achieved through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.
From my minimal research on Islam it seems the epitome of being a Muslim is to spread the world dominance of the religion using whatever means possible. Murder, Deception, Theft, TERROR. If these inherent evils lie deep in the hearts of all devout Muslims hidden in secret.
Could Islam be a global threat to Christianity in the near future?

From the Qur’an: 5:51 “O ye who believe! Take not the Jews and Christians for friends. They are friends one to another. He among you who taketh them for friends is (one) of them. Lo! Allah guideth not wrongdoing folk.”

The reason for this requested behavior is that the Jews and Christians do not hold to the same definition or belief in God, as do the Muslims so they are advised to avoid them rather than be corrputed.

Now many Muslims do have good friendships with Jews and Christians, so despite this being in the Qur’an, it is not practiced world wide. I think the primary concern today is to ensure the Muslim Law of Shari’ahis not incorporated within the American Laws, which surprisingly has been in discussion lately.

An Orthodox priest I know lives in Jerusalem, and has hired Moslems for repair projects at churches he supervises, in an effort to help their poverty.

One such he regularly hired because he was a good workman told the priest, “When we rise to take over all of Palestine, I hope I’m the one who gets to slit your throat. You have been so good to me, and I know I can do it quickly to cause you the least suffering.”

Basil: Ive heard the same sort of thing. eg "Once the Jihad starts, well make it as quick and as painless as possible."

It`s up to all of us to clean up our lives, lead by good example, and PRAY LIKE HELL!

At least we know the ultimate Winner.
 
It doesn’t help that the vast majority of Western civilization is so ignorant about what Islam really teaches, either. 😦

I do believe that Islam is a threat to Christianity around the globe. As you say, Islam’s goal is to dominate the entire world and put the entire world under shariah law. In fact, I read once that they don’t believe that the end of the world will happen until this happens. :eek: It’s quite scary really.

Oddly enough I think God’s going to use Islam to challenge the post-Christian West. As my old pastor said, regardless of what we think about their theology, “They take Him (Allah) seriously”. Even the Vatican admitted that there was renewed talk of God in Europe and it was mainly due to the Moslems.

I also think the key to the conversion of Moslems is Mary, whom they hold in high regard. Just how I don’t know. Fatima in Portugal was named after a Moslem girl who converted to the Catholic Faith, and she in turn was named after Mohammed’s daughter. Fatima wasn’t chosen by accident. Likewise she appeared at Zietoun in Egypt, which is Moslem, although she appeared over a Christian Church.

But yes, they are a threat. They’ll make all the accommodating noises while they’re a minority, but once they become a majority they’ll become very demanding. For example they complained about the Swiss ban on minarets. But try to get permission to build Churches in Moslem countries and see how far you get.

I think however they’re in for a shock, when they find out that violent Jihad provokes an equal or even greater violent response.
 
Yes they are a threat and it will be cowardice on our part if we fall prey to their propaganda. Yes loving the Lord our God with all our heart, mind, and soul; and to love our neighbors as ourselves is our core value. It’s a Christian virtue. But when we are threatened, we should rise up and be strong defenders of the faith (1 Corinthians 16:13)

The bible says “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you." Deuteronomy 31:6

Man does not live by bread alone. The poverty of Muslims is not really a material one. It is lack of Christ in their lives.

Leave the church repair to those who love the Church. Feed the Muslim through evangelizing.

Can anybody out there tellus what reward Moslem women expect to receive in the next life?

From what I can make out, the reward for men seems to be satisfaction of their sexual lusts…
or is there something more?

Im afraid you’re simply dogmatizing here; there aren’t really many religions that are a threat to Christianity today, although if any I’d say Judaism is alot less like Christianity than Islam. And alot more of a threat.
 
No, it’s not a threat at all, in fact martyrdom is the fastest way to get to heaven!

After what so many Moslem women and young girls have to endure in this life, the prospect
of perpetual virginity might be something to look forward to.

Anyway, if we are clobbered by Islam, it`ll be our own fault, for the same reason that God
allowed Babylon to overrun the kingdom of Judaea, and Assyria to overrun the kingdom of
Israel. God can use our enemies to make us repent.

The sad thing is, the people who are supposed to be our leaders allow them to do whatever because of supposed “acceptance”. The thing is, Muslims don’t want to ever come close to conforming. They want us to conform with them. :rolleyes:
