Is Islam a threat to Christianity around the globe?

the problem lies not just with our government. our church has completely failed to confront islam. i seriously doubt whether catholics and muslims worship the same god, but our church has said that we do. how could people who worship the same god that we do behave as many muslims do? it’s incomprehensible.

even on this board, when you say what must be said, that islam probably needs to be outlawed in the west, you get a warning from a moderator.

nobody has the guts to say what must be said and do what must be done.
Firstly…I don’t believe that Islamists worship the same God. But not all Muslims are Islamists. There are many that are good God fearing people. There are many that maintain strong friendships with Christians and Jews. Unfortunately they get little press.

I think it was Fr. Serpa that answered a question by saying that they worship the same God…but with much less understanding than Christians (and especially Catholic and Orthodox) do.

bin Laden and his followers worship evil. But they don’t make up all Muslims. One of the members of this forum is named planten. I hope that he is an example of most Muslims.

As I read that part of the CCC that deals with Islam, in theory, one could leave the Church for Islam and still be saved. You gotta ask yourself why is it that of all the heresies down through the centuries, the Church honors Islam and not the others? What gives?

I’m not sure the Church honors Islam. I think it finds a very limited number of truths. We still believe that no one gets to heaven except through Jesus the Christ! 🙂

exactly. moreover, is it even correct to call it a “heresy”? that seems too charitable. to me, a heretic is someone who probably has a lot right but something wrong. islam is wrong at its core–mohammed was not a prophet of God, period. if he were, he would recognize Jesus Christ for who he is. given that Islam has that most basic thing wrong, anything that it happens to get right is just coincidental.

I find that hard to believe. Imagine Christians and Muslims believe the same God. Muslims call Him Allah. up to that point I can understand.

Muslims say that Quran is a direct revelation from Allah, ( same God? that we follow?)
Muslims say that Jesus was not crucified. Can if come from the same God?

Ok given to understand to the muslims belief, that the Holy Bible is corrupted, does it mean that Crucifixation never took place? if so than there is No Christianity at all, so how can it be the same GOD?

If it does come from the same source than there is a big confusion somewhere.

…mohammed was not a prophet of God, period. if he were, he would recognize Jesus Christ for who he is. …
If he had done that, he would have pulled the rug right out from underneath his own claims. If Islam is true, Christianity makes no sense … even Muslims admit that in so many words. If Christianity is true, it easily accounts for the rise of false prophets. Either way, Mohammed is toast, and the only way you can accept him as a prophet is if you first accept him as a prophet.

I don’t disagree with you. that’s why I said the CCC says they have a very limited knowledge of the One True God. I have many problems with Islam. I started a thread regarding the Gabriel, the Annunciation and Islam a while back.

Since there is only one God…they must be worshiping Him. They just are doing it in a very defective way. 🙂

Oh, that is such a load. If that is how it works, then why stop at Islam? Maybe I want to start worshiping this roll of packaging tape on my desk, or the copy of Fr. Malaty’s “Introduction to the Coptic Orthodox Church” on my nightstand? It is a pretty good book so far, after all.

These are stupid examples, I know, but there are many heavier examples I could bring from the Bible, like Luke 16:13’s warning that you cannot serve both God and mammon. You might say “well, that’s not fair because there is NOTHING right in worshiping a book or tape or money…those things CAN’T be God”, well, Islam’s Allah can’t be God either, unless you’re calling Jesus Christ, the Savior a liar. GOD knows that things other than Him can’t be God, either, and yet we’re still warned against serving them. Why would that be if it were somehow impossible to do so, because after all, there’s only one God, so everybody is right to varying degrees by default? That’s just not the message I see in the Bible or any of the early writings of Christianity (or for that matter, anything before I read CCC 841). Verses about how there are many mansions in the Father’s house or about how there are other sheep, not of Israel seem to confirm the essential idea that it is possible, through God’s grace that we do not mete out ourselves, for people to be saved outside the Church, but they do not say anything about the gods of others being our God. They’re not. Islam does not worship God. It worships something else that Muhammad has set up, through his nasty revisionist “visions”, as God. He is just as wrong as those who worshiped Baal or Ra, even if we don’t necessarily disagree with 100% of what he says along the way.

Christians and Muslims do NOT worship the same God.

When we die, it doesn’t matter if your religion is Islam, Buddhism, Catholics, etc, Jesus Christ will still intercede for you to the father. When devout Muslim and other religious dies and saw the face of their savior, do you think they will still hold to their doctrines and religion when they are being presented with pure unadulterated truth? Their savior is staring them on the eye!

But I still hold true that the Catholic Church holds the correct way to worship GOD and communion with others.

I just posted something unrelated…

well this is awkward, sorry…

Pope St Pius V certainly understood that Islam was a threat to western Europe. On the eve of the Battle of Lepanto he asked all of the faithful to pray the Rosary requesting intercession on behalf of the Christian fleet. A miracle occurred, and the invading Islamic fleet was defeated. Informed of this St Pius said “Let us set aside business and fall on our knees in thanksgiving to God, for he has given our fleet a great victory.” St Pius then made October 7 a feast day in honor of Our Lady of the Rosary/Our Lady of Victory, which we still observe today.

whether you go to heaven is determined solely by what you believe and do prior to death on earth. you won’t have a chance after death to get right with Jesus. Need to do it now.

Islam allows people of all faiths to practice their religion and preach it peacefully. Please see verse 2:62 which states:

2:62, Those who believe (and are Muslims) and those who are Jews and the christians and the people of other faiths, who ever believed in Allah (i…e their own God) and the last day (of judgement) and did befitting (good) deeds, they will have their reward with their Lord and they will have no fear (of the future) nor any sorrow (of the past).
The above verse is clear that all people can peacefully follow their own faith and must try to be good persons. They will not suffer nor will they be sorry.

But there are Muslim theologians who deny that. They say “It is necessary for all Jews and Christians and people of other faiths to become Muslims. Otherwise they will not be saved.” I cannot understand that.

They say, the verse 2:62 is describing the people of the past times, viz, Those who had been Jews (in the past) and those who had been christians (in the past)… They have nothing to fear…

I cannot see why they have perverted the meaning of this verse to deny salvation to people of other faiths in present times…

There are other problems too. Most Muslims believe that any one who has not recited the Kalimah is a Kafir. I do not agree to that. I believe that every peaceful non-abusive person of every faith, even though he does not believe in Muhammad, is alright. He is not Kafir. He/she belongs to some other faith. He/she can follow his/her own faith without hinderance.

Ka’abah is a place for the mankind, all mankind. ( Mathaaba tan li an Naas). (2:125)

Muhammad is a Mercy for the whole man and animalkind, not a Mercy for the Muslims only. (21:107)

Peaceful preaching of other faiths (without abuse) should be allowed to people of all faiths every where. There should be no compulsion in the matters of faith, any faith.(2:256)

God sent messengers (guides) to all nations. (10:47) + (35:24)
That is Islam.

Those who believe in a God who created every one, they should not fight or downplay and argue with each other. There should be Love for all and Hatred for None.

I invite all Muslims to please shun all evil and live peacefully where ever they are.

Oiy, it most certainly is** a threat indeed!! And the fact that the media here in the U.S. blatently refuses to call these recent terrorist attacks what they are-Islamic terrorist attacks-is only making it easier for these extremists to forge forth in their war against us.:knight2:

Saw a humorous example of this recently.

Remember that young Muslim fellow who was arrested by the FBI, and who had been personally trained by Al Qaeda and was planning, with many others, to launch terrorist attacks? This sort of “year in review” package that aired on CBS stations mentioned him, and was very, very specific about who he was: his job, where he was from, his name, what he was arrested for, what he studied in college…

…they were specific about everything except his religion.

2.106 None of Our revelations do We abrogate or cause to be forgotten, but We substitute something better or similar: Knowest thou not that Allah Hath power over all things?

Found another verse about similar or better verses:

16.101 When We substitute one revelation for another,- and Allah knows best what He reveals,- they say, “Thou art but a forger”: but most of them understand not.

The similar or better verses:

9.5 But when the forbidden months are past, then fight and slay the Pagans wherever ye find them, an seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem; but if they repent, and establish regular prayers and practise regular charity, then open the way for them: for Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.

9.29 Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, of the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued.

**The violent verses of the Old Testament: We read the Holy Bible in context of time as to when it was revealed and what was going on at the time. To Christians it is a history of man’s sinful past and why GOD sent Jesus.

When the Quran was compiled after Mohammad died the people doing the compiling had no idea how to put the thing together. They put them in order of longest to shortest verses. Makes one think like our violent Muslims that Quranic verses can be taken out of context-certain verses don’t really pertain to just the battle being fought at the time. That with the staement that the Quran is for all times.**

An interesting video…but it focuses on the islamists. It focuses on the the hate.

While I don’t believe that ANYONE can get to heaven except through Jesus…not all muslims are fanatics. Take planten as an example. They need our prayers. 🙂

And of course the Quran is not a history book. It follows no logic. God…even today follows the logic that he set forth. The Quran is a jumble of sayings…that’s all. Not inspired in the least way. We’ve got to remember that being that hates the Cross and name of Jesus more than any other being. He has fooled billions and continues to fool them.

2:62 Those who believe (and are Muslims) and those who are Jews and the christians and the people of other faiths, who ever believed in Allah (i…e their own God) and the last day (of judgement) and did befitting (good) deeds, they will have their reward with their Lord and they will have no fear (of the future) nor any sorrow (of the past).

planten -I have been told that the Quran does not actually have the words that are in the parenthesis, these have been added by people so allah’s words cold be more easily understood. What is your understanding?
You are right. Those words in parenthesis are not in the actual Quran. They are added by myself. You can read with them or without them, it is is upto you. It will not make much difference.
2.106 None of Our revelations do We abrogate or cause to be forgotten, but We substitute something better or similar: Knowest thou not that Allah Hath power over all things?
Found another verse about similar or better verses:
I do not have to find any verse. They are all there. But those who say that a verse is abrogated by another one, they also do not have any list with them as to which is abrogated.

It was the foolishness of some old time Muslim scholars that they believed some verses were abrogated. Then, if they could not understand any verse or if it conflicted with another verse of the Quran, they believed that it was abrogated.

Then they made many formulae about how an abrogation will take place, i.e.
  1. A verse may be abrogated by another verse of the Quran.
  2. Averse may be abrogated by a Hadith.
  3. A verse may only be abrogated for its actions. But it could be recited.
It was all useless self made rules. None of that was from Allah or the Prophet Muhammad.
16.101 When We substitute one revelation for another,- and Allah knows best what He reveals,- they say, “Thou art but a forger”: but most of them understand not.
The similar or better verses:
There are many. But I do not have any list. Think for example that it was told about drinking and gambling that:
there were some advantages in them and some disadvantages. But the disadvantages are more.
Later it was told about drinking “Do not go near prayers when you are drunka nd you do not know what you are saying.” That was a later and better advice.

Then it was told " The wine and gambling are dirty things from the works of the devil. Keep away from them so that you may have good life."

Can you see the progressive good words?
9.5 But when the forbidden months are past, then fight and slay the Pagans wherever ye find them, an seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem; but if they repent, and establish regular prayers and practise regular charity, then open the way for them: for Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.
This was a mercy for the blood thirsty pagans of Makkah. They had done enough damage to the Muslims (believers). They could have been killed right away when Makkah was liberated. But they were given four(4) months to not believe and live in Makkah.

After that they were to leave the city and could not remain there as pagans. I feel that it was a mercy for them. In their bad times, they did not allow the Muslims to live in Makkah peacefully and did not allow them to leave the city peacefully.

The above verse is only about the pagans of Makkah.

I hope you will remember what King Pharoah did to the poor Jews in Egypt. He almost captured them and pressed them into slavery (servitude) and did not allow them to leave the country. What do you feel about the Quran and Muhammad permitting the pagans to live for 4 months and to leave the place in peace.

Of course if they did not want to take advantage of that good facility then the only thing they could face was death. That due to their intrancigence, wickedness.

I will not answer this. Already your post is extra ordinarily long. The verses of the Quran are supported by some history too and Hadith.

There was no need to give a long list of verses. Every one knows that present Quran is not in the chronological order in which it was revealed. But all Muslims know that whenever a verse was revealed, the Prophet Muhammad had it committed to writing by his scribes and he used to tell them where it was to be placed.

In every year in the month of Ramadhan, te Arch angel Gabriel used to visit the prophet Muhammad and used to revise the revealed part of the Quran. The prophet used to recite the Quran as he was told by the Arch angel. So a sequence was always established as to the order of the verses. This happened for 23 years.

Before his death, the prophet Muhammad had told his friends, the order of the verses and there were many persons who had remembered the whole Quran by heart and they used to recite it in prayers. There was no doubt as to the advised order of the verses.
