Is Islam a threat to Christianity around the globe?

The spectacle of a person of one religion declaring which version of another religion is “real” never ceases to amaze me. It’s hard for me to get my head around the assumptions that lead you to think that doing such a thing can be anything more than a sick joke.

What are you, the Pope of Islam?

Even granted that you have a better insight into the meaning of the Qur’an in its original historical context than either moderate Muslims or non-Muslim scholars of Islam, where do you get the idea that any religion’s “real” form is identical with the most probable original meaning of its sacred texts?

Edwin
People claim all kinds of crazy things about Catholicism in particular and Christianity in general. Go bang on them for a while.

I do and I have. But why would you even say this? Are you suggesting that some kinds of injustice deserve to be fought, while others don’t?

Now if you disagree with what I am saying here, how about you give a reasoned argument explaining on what basis a non-Muslim can make the claim that some Muslims are not practitioners of “real Islam,” in spite of the fact that they use the Muslim name, appeal to the Qur’an and other Islamic texts to support their views, etc.

Edwin

Personally, I think the answer is YES. Sadly Islam is spreading like a plague. (no surprise since it is Satan who is behind it) Many “moderate” muslims here might react, but those people since they are “moderate” are really not muslims. The true muslims are the extremist which follows the REAL Islam. So, assuming that all Muslims follow the real teachings of Islam… then it is death to the infidels as what Mohhamad commands.
You must be very young in religion. You may not have touched the Quran. It is all about Jesus and Mary in the Quran and we Muslims have the some knowledge about them…

You are disturbed about the spread of Muslims. That is not any harm to any one. Please look after your own people (the so-called christians) who are sunk deep in sinful life. That is spoiling their spiritual status, They are going far away from real christianity. You are losing good christians daily. Many are drinking and gambling and indulged in hetro-sexuality. Thereby they are going far away from Jesus. That is more of danger to you than any misguided Muslim.

Your people are becoming Atheists. I see some of them. They do not believe in any God and they hate only Islam. An Atheist hating Islam could be a good certificate in favor of Islam.

You have a lot of gall. You don’t read the Bible and you say you have the same knowledge about them. You think Mary is part of the Christian’s Trinity. And we all know that the Koran denies the what the Christians hold steadfast, the Resurrection.

And - this is important - Muslims think that Jesus is their Mahdi. Islam’s Mahdi is the Christian’s anti-Christ. They think that Jesus is going to come back and kill Christians for them.

He is not telling the truth about Jihad that violence is always an option and that if a Muslim dies while killing non-Muslims they go on a fast path to their heaven.

So what if someone hates Islam. I know what their laws say, I pay attention to what Muslims do in the name of their god and I know that it sanctions deception.

Do you come on these threads and get your scales balanced? Why are you not working to change the violence and abuse, slavery and other nasty things in islam? Instead you worry about a group of people who give Muslims free passage in their lands only to have Muslims turn around and terrorize and kill them while the masses of Muslims do nothing to stop it and instead just give us lip service. You seem to think you can do a lot here why don’t you go to your Muslims websites and work on them? Is it because you don’t get your scales balanced if you do that? That is not what Jihad tells you to do? Jihad by the tongue (taqiyya/kithman).

Well, I do not agree that the spread of Islam is not a threat to the free world.
However, you do have a point in that the secularization of the West is a threat from within the culture. If the West were more Christian, Islam would not have a chance. Many people, especially in western Europe do not self-identify as Christians-- and western Europe seems to have the biggest problem with Muslim demands for special treatment, Muslim riots, no-go areas for Christians, etc. I just read that the British police are giving head-coverings to female police officers who go into Muslim areas. I hope the Americans wouldn’t voluntarily assume dhimmi status like that!

That’s a very interesting accusation.

By the way, I’ve known Atheists who were former Muslims, so don’t pretend only Christians can lose faith.

Oh i have read the quran alright (at least some ^^). What I see are stories mostly taken from Judaism and Christianity. After reading it I got bored and felt like it was a toy made in China… you know the fake, cheap copy cat type? By the way since you don’t like drinking… how do you feel Jesus your “prophet” drinking wine? Does he still qualify as a prophet by commiting that sin?

Since Islam sets its prophets up as one-dimensional sinless automatons, I have no doubt that the answer to that is that this is a fiction inserted into the Bible by Christians, somehow proving that they have destroyed Christ’s true teachings.

Nobody tell Planten of our Lord’s miracle at Qana…he might faint!

Perhaps rather than focusing on our fear of Islam, maybe we should be focusing on our fear for the decline in Christianity as our society is secularised. Perhaps we should fear Christians not standing up for their faith as well as they might, whether it be in the face of
‘political correctness’ , or in the face of the ‘blame industry’ which attempts to sheet home much of the blame for the world’s ills onto our Judeo-Christian heritage. We should fear fear itself and make a concerted effort to revitalise our Christian heritage.

Good, this. 👍

Our society was developed on the basis of secularization; that’s what’s great about it.

Political correctness is stupid, I agree. But when there’s still people in the back woods of this country who think god commands them to play with snakes, who demand their children be taught kooky science, and a dominant world religion who believes in a god who allegedly murdered thousands of innocent infants and young children just to change one guys mind; I’d say we right had enough of it.

No. I’m saying it’s possible to seek falsehood [or error].
You’re right. I get that feeling when I read a publication or website that has a narrow ideological focus that its writers dare not depart from. (Don’t get me wrong; I’m glad such journals exist, and they have the right to police their own ideological boundaries as they see fit, but the narrow focus does make me take what they say with a grain of salt.) But why you think this applies to Dzheremi is a mystery to me.

Western civilization was created by Judeo-Christian thought and values; it was built by the Church. If we get too far away from a Christian worldview, then we stand to lose everything that is great about our culture.

and then you woke up … and actually read a history book

St. Paul predicted such times would come.

Actually, it’s quite interesting when you think that the corrupt religious bodies and secular authorities of Christ’s day also sometimes joined forces: the Sanhedrin with the Romans against Christ, and the Sanhedrin and the Romans again against Paul. Neither side particularly liked the other, but found temporarily friendship because they disliked our Lord greater than their personal animosity.

Huh? 🤷

No it isn’t. We have been led to beleive it is, but in reallity it is failing. it has been failing for a long time and failing dismally and that is why Islam is on the rise. It is stepping into the moral void left by secularisation.

you are worrying about gnats on the elephant. Meanwhile the elephant is being infested with worms that eat away at its health. Leave the gnats. While they are in the backwoods they do little harm to the body politic. The body politic is being eaten away by worms because it is not eating the right food. The body politic is being eaten away because it is eating the food of secularism, which has no nutrients.

Good point and good observation. I wonder if they disliked Our Lord, or feared him?
