Is It a Grave Sin to Vote Democrat?

My fiancée is a Democrat, despite my best efforts to sway her. She believes in social justice for all, free healthcare, free college, supports many socialist policies, has serious problems with capitalism, etc. She thinks it isn’t our place to impose our religious morality on other people and people should be free to choose to live however they want.

Given the policies she supports, I jokingly remarked to her she would have made a good Komsomol in the Soviet Union.

You let the immigration courts rule on whether they gain asylum or get send back to their original home. You do not just cage them like animals. Most of them are entering the country to gain something better than what they had, as have most immigrants to this country.

So while they’re waiting to see an immigration judge, what happenens? Do we let literally everyone who shows up at the border and claims asylum into the interior of this country, no questions asked?

Is that the standard for immigrants to gain admission into the United States? As long as they are looking for something better they get into this country no matter what?

My ex obstetrician was a wonderful prolife Doctor. He saw patients at the life center, but that was for the initial pregnancy test and sonogram.

Then, the moms who would keep the babies would see him in the same office I would. He’d help them get on Medicaid.

I don’t think your position is tenable. There are conflicts and compromises with both parties honestly.
Take " the wall"
The Pope has already commented on it very harshly. Since, I see many Catholics sort of discount what he said. What he said was clearly scriptural in it’s underpinnings.
Welcoming the stranger is one of the fundemental and express commandments of God to Israel.
And it is no less express in the Gospel in Matthew 25.
Catholic Chatechism is express as well. And there are many such issues.

Pope Francis also comments harshly on abortion. It’s just not topical or popular with the leftwing media.

Would you cite the documentation for these claims?
From Parental Consent & Notification Laws | Teen Abortion Laws

If you’re under 18, you may or may not have to tell a parent in order to get an abortion — it all depends on the laws where you live.

Some states don’t have any laws about telling your parents or getting their permission. But some states say you have to get permission from a parent or older family member to have an abortion. Other states don’t make you get permission, but your parents will have to know that you’re getting an abortion.

You may be able to get a judge’s permission to have an abortion without telling your parents. This is called “judicial bypass”.

The exact rules are different in different places. Find information on parental involvement in your state below.

And know that you’re not alone. If you’re pregnant and want to have an abortion, call your nearest Planned Parenthood health center as soon as possible. They can help explain the laws in your state, let you know what your options are, and give you tips on talking with your parents.

It’s important to take action right away. Abortion is very safe, but there are more risks the longer you wait. There are also time limits on abortion in some states. And if you need a judicial bypass, it can take a while to get through the process.

Go to the site and check your state.

You’re both only scratching the surface. The overwhelming majority of women have abortions because they lack support that is financial, (e.g. for childcare and other expenses incurred in raising children), and social/emotional, (e.g. support from the baby’s father, grandparents and support from the mother’s employer or school).

Calling these concerns “convenience” just trivializes them. And women certainly need support well beyond the prenatal and immediate postnatal period.
First of all, I’d like to see some documentation that the overwhelming majority of women choose abortion for that reason.

And wouldn’t you say that aborting the child for those reasons trivializes the child?

Has Guttmacher or anyone else released new data? Has it changed substantially? Please post what you have!
Guttmacher surveyed 1209 people, Florida does everyone who has an abortion. elective abortion is the top reason with economic/social a distant second

this is the 2018 results:

Same then - a lack of financial and emotional resources is the driving reason why women choose abortion.

I provided it in my post.

I’m pro-life, too. It’s just that women aren’t going to stop having abortions until these underlying motivations are addressed.

This is so 2014.

Facebook doesn’t have this option anymore and hasn’t since 2015. The list was an attempt to be inclusive and a lot of those are 5 different ways of saying the same thing, which isn’t helpful, so Facebook got out of the business of defining gender. Now it’s just:
  • Male
  • Female
  • Custom
And following that you can’t indicate your preferred pronouns and you are giving three choices.

not even close

53000 had abortions for elective reasons and only 14031 had them for social/economic reasons.
