Is it a mortal sin to be rude to parents?

The other my mother started yelling and me and generally provoked me. This happened for a while and finally I snapped and started yelling at her and saying uncharitable things. But then I calmed down later, apologized to God and her. But is being rude/uncharitable to your parents a mortal sin? Even when words slip out of your tongue without premeditation and you are heartily sorry afterwards?

your only human. people living together will always manage to get on each others nerves. it dosent mean she will love you any less, and i’m sure you till love her just as much. i worry that you apologised to “god” first?? just get on with living this life and stop worrying about some imaginary afterlife

You would be breaking the 4th Commandment and since you aren’t fully Catholic yet and can not go to confession, I would suggest talking with your RCIA leader about what you can do.

are you serious? this is the advise your giving to a young man, who is genuinly concerned that he my be in trouble. it worries me that you hand out such unhelpfull advise.
