Hi everyone. Is it a mortal sin to break a promise to a friend? Let’s say you promise your friend that you’ll only smoke a certain amount of cigarettes per day but then you go over that amount. Did you commit a mortal sin?

Well you are breaking their heart. They are expecting you to change your smoking habits. Breaking a promise to God is a sin, while breaking a promise to friend or a relative may not be a sin but it hurts the person whom you have made a promise to and it speaks very poor of the person who cannot keep a promise.

In the end I say: TALK TO YOUR PRIEST ABOUT IT👍

I told some one that i would always be his friend and we had a fallen out because of the churches scandles and now i never hear from him ever. I am not up set with him but i think he is with me. What should i do? I don’t realy want to appologize to him because i think we all have a right to our own opinion and he is not a friend if he stays mad right?
