Is it a mortal sin to fail to vote in the US?

I am considering boycotting the November election because I do not like any of the candidates. I have read that Roman Catholics are obligated to vote. Is this obligation under pain of venial or mortal sin? If it is mortal, I do not want to go that far. Thank you in advance,
