Or maybe that Jesus is the law giver, so he can dispense with the law if he desires?
Hahaha, I love how even your signature is is a Harry potter reference.

I like āFor the well organized mind, death is but the next great adventure.ā -Albus Dumbledoreand
(Iām thinking of having it engraved on my grave marker with the hope that Potterheads of all generations will pray for the soul of a kindred spirit. And will mystify everyone else.)
Exactly. And it woudnāt it be charitable for everyone else to set a good example for them and avoid those same activities and offer it up.But almost anything is a near occasion of sin for some.
That might not have been prudent on the part of Jesus.Should Jesus not have provided 120 gallons of wine for a bunch of wedding guests who had already drunk the place dry, for fear that some would abuse it? Or plenty of food and to spare for the 5,000 for fear that some would sinfully gorge themselves?
A few hours of fun that will lead to a lifetime of unwittingly practicing and encouraging occultic activity. :tsktsk: It might be best to only read the bible or, if you must, the lives of the saints.^Or perhaps itās a sin to read/watch so much Harry Potter⦠considering itās so much fun and allā¦![]()
Yup, everyone should be miserable just in case.Near occasion of sin, maybe? Jesus didnāt didnāt have original sin so he would know what kind of fun to have, how much fun to have, who to have fun withā¦for everybody else, itās best not to take any chances. :dts:
Like I said, they can offer it up. Itās a win-win.Yup, everyone should be miserable just in case.![]()
I would pray for someone if I saw that on their gravestone.and

Would you conjure a wreath of winter roses to put on it?I would pray for someone if I saw that on their gravestone.
I am tempted to do a retread of the series.^Or perhaps itās a sin to read/watch so much Harry Potter⦠considering itās so much fun and allā¦![]()
Only after I found the death stick.Would you conjure a wreath of winter roses to put on it?
New book covers are coming outā¦I am tempted to do a retread of the series.
Youāll have to disarm me then. Good luck with that. Just so you know, I twirled baton so I know what Iām doing.Only after I found the death stick.![]()
No it isnāt. Itās a rejection of Godās creation just because we canāt figure out how moderation works. It takes the virtues of prudence and temperance and throws them away out of the fear of having to actually apply them and instead says we should isolate ourselves from the rest of the world to avoid having to use them. It denies Godās mercy because it implies that misery is the only sure way to avoid sin, which is ridiculous and false. It denies Godās wisdom because it rejects the good things he has given us as unhealthy.Like I said, they can offer it up. Itās a win-win.
That sounds like a challenge. I was a wrestler, so I donāt know whether your baton twirling would help. For now I will yell insults at you over the Internet.your mother was a hamster.:slapfight:Youāll have to disarm me then. Good luck with that. Just so you know, I twirled baton so I know what Iām doing.
I will have to check them out.New book covers are coming outā¦
I KNOW Iāve seen that suggested on this forum. Countless times.A few hours of fun that will lead to a lifetime of unwittingly practicing and encouraging occultic activity. :tsktsk: It might be best to only read the bible or, if you must, the lives of the saints.
I think Iāve seen that suggested on this forum.
I must avoid wearing shoes with heels because some have a fetish for them? I must avoid going into public at all for fear my youth and femininity will cause someone to lust? I must never let anyone see me in privaye eitehr for the same reason? I must avoid ALL alcohol, All foods, ALL movies, ALL music, ALL sporting activities - because some will be induced to sjn who are drunks, gluttons, time wasters or the like?Exactly. And it woudnāt it be charitable for everyone else to set a good example for them and avoid those same activities and offer it up.
:nope: The Second Person of the Blessed Trinity was always utterly perfect in His prudence as in every other one of His virtues. That might not have been prudent on the part of Jesus.
Like I said lily, Jesus was the law giver, so he could be imprudent and it would still be prudent.I must avoid wearing shoes with heels because some have a fetish for them? I must avoid going into public at all for fear my youth and femininity will cause someone to lust? I must never let anyone see me in privaye eitehr for the same reason? I must avoid ALL alcohol, All foods, ALL movies, ALL music, ALL sporting activities - because some will be induced to sjn who are drunks, gluttons, time wasters or the like?
What you suggest is literally impossible, because as I said any and every thing can be an occasion of sin.
:nope: The Second Person of the Blessed Trinity was always utterly perfect in His prudence as in every other one of His virtues.
I guess itās okay to enjoy trees, and flowers and pictures of them but what about painting my toenails? Itās money that could go to the poor and no one sees my toenails except for me (until summer anyway). I might set a bad example if someone (especially another Catholic) sees me wearing nail polish that is black with silver, gold and black glitter (China Glaze - Get Carried Away from the Cirque du Soleil collection)? This doesnāt sound very humble. Surely I can be joyful without nail polish. It denies Godās wisdom because it rejects the good things he has given us as unhealthy.
If God wanted us to be miserable, he wouldnāt have given us joy. If he wanted us to fearfully hide from the good things on this Earth he gave us, he wouldnāt have put them here. If he wanted us to cower and avoid situations where we could make the wrong decision, he would never have given us the virtues of prudence and temperance to make the right one.
edit: Iām not directing this at you specifically Bruised Reed; Iām just making a general comment.![]()
