Is it a mortal sin to make a sexual gesture

Hi I was wonderingif it was a mortal sin to make a sexual gesture out of jest. I.e no actual intention or thought of carrying out a sexual act with that person?

IMHO yes just the thought of doing it could be considered sinful and the act of actually doing it is just as bad in that respect its like thoughts or “Flipping the bird” in anger or fustration

It was probably only venial, unless you knew it would really offend the person you were doing it to, you had intent to hurt their feelings, and you freely chose to do it.

Please clarify: Do you mean that matter is gravely sinful, to the level of a mortal sin, but the intention is not likely to be sufficiently deliberate to reach the level of mortal sin?

Is it likely that many people would fully appreciate that the choice has that level of gravity?

Is purposefully doing something that someone else would find offensive a mortal sin? I’m no expert, but I would have said not…I mean, in the absence of an unusual case, such as humiliating someone who is suicidal, hoping to push them over the edge into harming or kill themselves, or damaging someone’s purity in an attempt to seduce them into committing a sin of mortal gravity, etc…

If you and a friend just blew a kiss at each other just jokingly to have
fun, I don’t think its serious.

But obviously you know not to be doing anything more explicit.
