Is it a mortal sin to refinance your mortgage to pay for tuition owed to a Catholic school?

It would be a sin if you didn’t pay the money you owe them. Borrowing to get it isn’t a sin. However, caution should be exercised in regard to using the equity in your home for it unless there is no other way to pay it.

Imprudent. Do not take on debt for something that does not have a foundation and a kitchen.

Sit down and ask about financial assistance, scholarships for the school.

What sin would it be?

Thou shalt not refinance?
If the lender charges interest, it could place the lender in a position of committing the sin of usury, which would be a sin. That’s why only non-Catholics are involved in the financial markets.

am at ease, now. I actually confessed gluttony.
You need to get some spiritual help because there was no sin to confess. Particularly not gluttony. If you are suffering from scruples please talk to your priest

Actually, my previous Pastor had me buy a book on scrupulosity. Thank you.

You just gave me a belly laugh. Thank you so much. I try to belly laugh at least a couple of times a day, and yet it has been a few days since my last one. Bless you, Paul!
