That’s not necessarily true. Anything over a sip of table wine and I’ll lose my permit. Now I assume fbl9 is much older than 15 however some folks have different legal limits depending on their driving class. Class A -]I believe is lowest. /-]
Actually, a .02 in a CMV will get you an OOS shutdown, a .04 will get you a 1 year suspension, or longer… A second conviction is automatic permanent revocation of the CDL. If you hold a CDL…and you are stopped in your POV, it matters not. The .04 is legally drunk and you are toast per Federal Law. CDL holders are held to a higher standard.

I take that back. PD is the lowest. lol What was I thinking. Two glasses of ordinary table wine puts me at about 0.035 BAC
I hold and have held a CDL-A w/XT endorsements for 15 years now. I work for a company that has a ZERO tolerance rule. If I get stopped for any reason and have any amount of alcohol or non-prescribed medication in my system that are on the restricted lists…I am terminated on the spot. The vast majority of transportation companies have the same policy.

Any and all infractions of safety rules or policies are reported to a central data bank and accessible by employers, and this is exclusive of national and state data banks. So violation of the ZERO tolerance policy, or getting nailed for a .02 or higher is a “career killer”… Unfortunately some have found that out the hard way…

Your accusing me of lying, well that isn’t very Christian at all.
I didn’t accuse you of lying…but I think you are trying to sell ice to eskimos…and deluding yourself as well. I’ve been there and done it, though it was over 30 years ago…

And if you think “reefer” doesn’t affect your judgment…

if you know what your intentions are, and have your ideals instilled, you won’t do anything you don’t want to do.

OK… if that’s what you believe. But being buzzed is the same as being without normal inhibitions and lots of things don’t happen as they do when one is “straight”. And yes, the degree of lack of inhibition is affected by the level of THC present and absorbed, but I think that there is a distinct parallel between the quantity of alcohol consumed and the amount of reefer smoked…unless of course it is really lousy weed…

marijuana does not affect your judgement to the extreme alcohol does, and if we use getting high to look at our lives, how we are living we can be in a meditative mindset to calmly and contently reflect on our lives from a neutral perspective./QUOTE) TAKE IT FROM OZZIE OSBORN:confused: HE’S BEEN BRAIN DEAD MOST OF HIS LIFE.HE CAN’T COMPLETE A SENTENCE FULLY, ALL HE CAN SAY IS (SHARON) TO HIS WIFE.RICKY NELSON DIED IN A PLANE CRASH AND THERE WAS MARIJUANA FOUND ON THE PLANE AND IN THEIR SYSTEMS.EVEN THE PIOLOT’S.I LOVED HIM AND SOMEONE OUT THERE LOVES YOU TOO! How do you know that. Every drug effects other differently!

St. Paul tells us not to get drunk on wine but be filled with the Holy Spirit. He also indicates that a little wine is good for the stomach. So what is the message here? It seems to me that we should pray to God that He will free us and give us the love and joy that will put drugs in their proper perspective. Don’t claim to know the answer and present arguments. Simply pray to God about it and see where he leads you.

no point in arguing with them when you crush one here comes more with the same arguments that failed the first 10 times they were used, just cut and paste mine from earlier in the thread if you want.

no body who has any real experience will say think these things. we all gave up, got tired of talking to people who saw something somewhere and now they think they know something about it, i bet half of em are having a beer right now

if anybody cares to take issue with what i said, please review the rest of the thread before you speak, or i will just ignore you if you dont have something original to add.

I had to use details from previous posts to form my overall opinion. Many points I made weren’t used in this thread.

Regardless, I see no reason to bring anger and negativity into this thread. Your post didn’t challenge my argument, so it was not necessary. How about we discuss this and not treat this like I’m trying to find a reason for it to be okay.

dude, back the truck up.🙂

im on your side, i am just tired of people not reviewing the thread and then presenting arguments that have already been found to be invalid, im afraid you took that post wrong.🙂

Is being under the influence greatly different from that of alcohol?

Matthew 15:11 “It is not what enters into the mouth that defiles the man, but what proceeds out of the mouth, this defiles the man.” - Jesus

Genesis 1:29 Then God said, "Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the surface of all the earth, and every tree which has fruit yielding seed; it shall be food for you;

@warpspeedpetey,I totally took your post the wrong way, sorry about that:)

I UNDERSTAND, I JUST THINK YOU ARE WRONG.
the united states is not the whole world. other people have other ideas.
even here it was legal in some places until the feds tied highway funds to its criminalization.

you are only saying it is a sin where it is illegal, that is ridiculous, an imaginary line on the map is of no moral consequence.

who is wiggling?, i am making accurate arguments, you just dont seem to want to accept that pot is not universally illicit, nor has it always been in the U.S. until federal highway fund were tied to states passing certain drug legislation. same way the feds forced uniform DUI laws.

p.s. how bout you tone down the talk about what you have had enough of? i am tolerating you with a great deal of patience if you cant return the favor then do what you promised earlier and stop posting.

.

you need proof that it is any worse than alcohol. but it isnt, if it was then there would be something like AA but there is not. in light of this why do you keep insisting on these harmful effects?

only in some places

same goes for taking a drink or smoking a cigarette, eating too much fat, or not exercising, they are all irresponsible, but have nothing to do with the law, all actions have consequences. big deal.

you haven’t convinced me because you haven’t been able to defend your arguments, when their flaws are exposed, you just keep repeating them, hoping volume or repetition will win the day, but it wont, at least not with me, i require evidence and arguments. have you considered that you just might be wrong?
It can be and it may not be. Sin is an abuse of good. If you just tried it once like I did to see what it was like, I would say no. If you did it in an abusive way, or against the law many times, then perhaps.

thats cool, i understand:)

now if we could only get the U.N. smoked up, the term peace pipe would take on a whole new international meaning!

there wouldnt be a problem in the world that couldnt be solved over a bowl of some superfine sticky icky! 🙂

there was probably more drug use in the bible than any other book, so im gonna say that god doesnt mind you lighting up…

For those who want to respond by saying that it is sinful because it is illegal (in most places in the US) and therefor breaking the law makes it sinful, please don’t go there. It does not hold water with me that breaking the law is always a sinful act.
Well, consider the argument in the letters – I think Paul’s – in the New Testament (NT): As Christians and lovers of peace we are obligated to obey any law that does not contradict God’s law.

In the NT, Paul asserts that those in power have authority given to them by God, like the kings of the Old Testament (see 1 Samuel). I wish I could find the exact verses but I can’t recall it; I think it’s the first seven verses of some chapter. It’s for this reason that those in power have greater responsibility for their actions, and will be judged more harshly for their sins, if they lead others astray, etc. (The Old Testament has God annihilating the entire families of certain sinful kings, so strongly did the authors want this point made.) For this reason we should be praying for our Congressmen and our President, as well as fighting the Freedom Of Choice Act, lest it be passed.

Anyway, as Christians, the New Testament makes it clear that we are bound to uphold any law that does not contradict God’s law – including mundane things like a 35 mph speed limit. Fortunately we are blessed with a society where we can fight to change laws with which we disagree.

From what I’ve heard, the effects of weed on the human body are not worse than alcohol, although I don’t know of the long term effects. Assuming it’s clear that both weed and alcohol in moderation are acceptable to God, work to have the laws changed, if you want to smoke weed.

If you have not read the entire New Testament, please do so; I found the footnotes of the New American Bible helpful for many passages (including the entire Revelation to John.) What I’ve said should make sense once you’ve adopted the perspective of the early Christian Church and consider Christ’s peace. We are called to be united in harmony with one another, in a peaceful union, and in such a state of being there is no place to break just rules. If a rule is unjust, creating an unjust situation, then we are called to fight it and make the situation just. As John Paul II said, “If you want peace, work for justice.”

It is a sin. Marijuana is harmful. Period. Growing it yourself is illegal. Period.

I have seen no good evidence from medical professionals that even so-called medical marijuana is good or useful.

Peace,
Ed
I’ve seen lots of evidence from medical research that says marijuana DOES do good - sounds like you saw what you wanted to see. If it didn’t, there wouldn’t be States that allowed the use of medical marijuana.

God gave us everything we would ever need and trusted us to be responsible. My answer is that misuse of anything the Lord has provided us is a sin, from the abuse of herd and battery animals to the misuse of alchohol, tobacco, marijuana, prescription (and non-presciption) drugs, etc.

It’s the intent.

I would just like to throw this question out there to see what people have to say on the matter.

For those who want to respond by saying that it is sinful because it is illegal (in most places in the US) and therefor breaking the law makes it sinful, please don’t go there. It does not hold water with me that breaking the law is always a sinful act.

You and I know that the law is not always right in this country - taking for example legalizion of abortion. Just because something is legal in this country does not mean it is morally right. Taking the converse, just because the law says something is illegal today (in most States) does make it sinful in my opinion.

Remember that alcohol also used to be illegal in this country and then later became legal. It wasn’t the change in the law that makes the use of something sinful or not sinful.

Your thoughts?
It is doubtful as whether you smoking weed will send you to hell, but it will surely make you smell like you’d been there!
