Glaucoma, et al.

But all things in moderation ~~ except prayer, of course!

Even prayer done excessively while neglecting other serious responsibilities (family etc …) could be an occasion of sin in my opinion.

Actually I like the smell and others have told me the same.
I’ve been told a particular brand of patchouli handcream smells like pot… and I like the smell of it! But we digress and will surely be told off for not sticking to the point… šŸ˜›

Genesis 1:26 - Then God said, ā€œLet us make man in our image, after our likeness; and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth.ā€

I think we just need to be responsible in whatever we do.

I’ve heard of brownies, but handcream? Where can i get some? 😃

It is doubtful as whether you smoking weed will send you to hell, but it will surely make you smell like you’d been there!
šŸ™‚ Hello,I certaintly would noy use it even if it was legal and abortion is wrong, but I believe if anything impares your thinking,or mood,or changes the real person you are then it can be classified as evil, for you have left yourself wide open for the devil to enter in,even if you think your ok. Remember the devil is cunning and sneeky, and is waiting, and seeking all whom he can devour. Thats why we are told to put on the whole armour of Christ to fight the wiles of the devil.Remember that God loves all his children and we are to pray to reach tham:highprayer: Love of Christ Nancy.

 QUOTE=LegoGE1947;4632863]You can even misuse food which will cause obesity. How did you know I was Fat:confused: šŸ˜‰

I would just like to throw this question out there to see what people have to say on the matter.

For those who want to respond by saying that it is sinful because it is illegal (in most places in the US) and therefor breaking the law makes it sinful, please don’t go there. It does not hold water with me that breaking the law is always a sinful act.

You and I know that the law is not always right in this country - taking for example legalizion of abortion. Just because something is legal in this country does not mean it is morally right. Taking the converse, just because the law says something is illegal today (in most States) does make it sinful in my opinion.

Remember that alcohol also used to be illegal in this country and then later became legal. It wasn’t the change in the law that makes the use of something sinful or not sinful.

Your thoughts?
I smoked pot a long time ago it did not make me turn to other drugs it did not make me do bad things. Its all in your head, now that I’m much older 66 years old when my pain gets real bad I think if the pot would help me with the pain.šŸ‘

Even prayer done excessively . . . could be an occasion. . . .
Come to think of it, you’ve got a point there, as i’ve just been apologizing to The Great One for overdoing it a bit today, which usually happens when i’m feeling somewhat overwhelmed and alone but for Him and His. . . . šŸ˜‰

You took what I said out of context by omitting my words ā€œneglecting other serious responsibilitiesā€. Some of us are called to be contemplatives, othes active in the world, and still others somewhere in between - contemplatives active in the world. Neglecting one’s personal responsibilities can be sinful if a person spends excessive time in prayer trying to avoid those other responsibilities. That is for each person to evaluate according to their own conscience.

I don’t think that it is a sin personally, because if I did and this was based on the mind altering side of it, science has shown that even one glass of wine, beer, whiskey etc, alters your state of mind to some degree. As to the legal side of this topic there are differing degrees of the legality of Mary Jane.

In some states to even posses one joint, lenyo, somthin somthin, is a felony. I would not take Mary Jane on a date in those states. I like my freedom too much. In some states it is a misdemeanor and can carry with it a hefty fine and possible jail time. Once again, I like my freedom and my money can go to better causes. Some states it is an infraction depending on the amount you are ā€œbustedā€ with by the PohPoh. You will either have it simply confiscated and that will be the end of it, or you will get a ticket and have to appear in your local happy court system and explain you ā€œevilā€ ways, get fined about 50 bucks and you are on your way to do it gain.

Alcohol was legal, then made illegal and now it is legal again. Mary Jane was legal to grow (hemp plantations) and was smoked by the hemp farmers because it was cheaper than tobacco and they loved how they felt when smoking it. Now it is illegal in most states of the Union but many are tolerating it more and more.

Here is the moral of the story, you can’t just classify one substance as ok and another as evil. Look at the ā€œlegalā€ opiates that are prescribed everyday to the public for ā€œmedicinalā€ purposes and yet anyone who uses these opiates is considered an outstanding citizen because hey, their using legally prescribed drugs for medicinal reasons, pain, mental health etc. So really, is Mary Jane immoral? I really don’t think so.

Last word here. If you grow your own then you do not partake of the real evil that surrounds the distribution of Mary Jane like the evil drug cartels. You do not partake of the evil prostitution that is involved (I don’t know where that one came from). If you grow your own you take money away from these evil empires and you keep it at home.

Jesus drank wine and so did the apostles and that is just the truth. Did they get drunk, I don’t think they got plowed but I am sure that they enjoyed a bit of the bubbly at the next festive occasion. The real question is Do you have Mary Jane or does Mary Jane have you?

humble apologies . . . .😦

Great point Danny!

Compare alcohol to marijuana:

Moderate drinking consists of one or two drinks. Red wine can be excellent for the heart and one or two glasses may relax one a bit and increase their sociability but they will not be drunk. Also, apparently moderate drinking does not damage the brain and may even promote brain growth.

The entire purpose (except medical) of smoking marijuana is to alter the mental state in a way that distorts one’s perception of reality (the ā€œhighā€). It also affects the ability to concentrate. Long term it can damage the brain and increase risk of heart attack.

We must use discernment when comparing alcohol to marijuana. The same concept of moderate does not apply to marijuana as it does to alcohol. Basically, marijuana either causes its effects or it doesn’t. Certainly alcohol can be very harmful if abused. However, some forms of alcohol can be healthful if used lightly (in moderation). A moderate amount of alcohol can cause a mild relaxed effect with no significant loss of self control, sense of self, and concentration.

The Church wisely teaches that moderate alcohol use is acceptable and can be good. Marijuana lacks redeeming qualities and is to be rejected.

Consider a small child. Could that child still experience a normal intelligent loving relationship with a parent after that parent has sipped two glasses of wine? Absolutely. How about if the parent was ā€œhighā€ on marijuana? No.
However in the case of some people ā€œmoderateā€ use of alcohol means ā€œnot a dropā€

Just because something is ā€œlegalā€ doesn’t always make it morally right. Take a look at abortion for example Might be legal but you definately have to question the moral rightness of it.

Great point Danny!
There are Fundamentalists who are scandalized by the mere thought that Jesus and his disciples would have drunk wine. They try to explain it away by saying it was grape juice. But what they forget is that in the arid climate of the Middle East juice turns to wine really quick and that the process by which Welches makes grape juice hadn’t been invented at that time in history.

Jesus was fully human and the Jesus I know drank wine and even got a ā€œbuzzā€.

have you ever actually been exposed to pot?
the good stuff has a scent that is pleasant and intoxicating… either that, or you have extremely high opinions of hell…

Gluttony and Sloth are the sins that excessive marijuana use can lead to. I don’t believe marijuana itself is evil or using it constitutes a sin. It is when you let it’s use take over your life and all you look forward to and base your life on is smoking pot, that you commit a sin. This is true of many things alcohol, food, sex, and marijuana.

I do believe it is a mortal sin.If getting drunk is a mortal sin then getting high is a mortal sin too. What good comes from doing illegal drugs.I understand marijuana is used in some medications but that’s to help people & in that sense the use of marijuana is not a sin.Smoking it too get stoned is different b/c nothing positive comes from that.
