While overall i consider myself to be a fairly conservative Catholic but i do disagree with one main church teaching. I do believe that the Clergy should not require celibacy. I however, accept that they do not, and i would never raise any stink about it, as the Church has made their position clear. Is it a sin for me to believe in a married Priesthood?

Dear AA,

The fact that the Western Church has a celibate priesthood is not a matter of faith. One does not believe or not believe in it. It is a discipline of the Church. One can have an opinion regarding it. There is no sin in having an opinion.

The celibate priesthood has proved beneficial in the Western Church for several centuries. However, several Eastern Churchs in union with Rome have married priests. It is possible for a married man who discerns that he is being called to the priesthood to be ordained in one of those Churches.
