Is it a sin to call something sexy?

Do you think it is sinful to call things “sexy”? Women, men, cars, food, or basically anything?

You shall not commit adultery.
Thou shalt not look upon a woman with lust in thy heart.

Looking at a beautiful woman and thinking she is sexy is no sin.
It becomes a sin when you have thoughts of lust and play with those thoughts in your mind and heart with the full desire to have sex with her. Jesus spoke of this as committing the same sin as adultery. This law applies equally to both men and woman even though Jesus directed this law more towards men.

As for inanimate objects being called sexy ?
Little minds think about little things.
 
I see an exotic car and the first word that comes to mind is “sexy”… donno why, but that is what happens! Does that mean that I am looking at the car in a lustful manner…no, so in this instance, I think it is just a descriptive word for the car.

If you see a beautiful woman and say in your mind the is sexy, you are flirting with a line that you need to understand. If you are a person who sees a sexy woman and sees her for her beauty, but not in a lustful manner, then it is ok. If you see her as an object, but not someone who has put in the time to get this kind of look, let it be in shape, or whatever, you are on that line again.

Think about it in this term… would you want someone to talk about your mother, wife, sister, or daughter in this way… it you say that it is ok, to see them as a beautiful sexy woman, good for you. But if you think that it is not ok to objectify them they way you may, then you the word sexy is something that needs to be out of our mind.

Sexy means you want to have sex with it. If you were calling cars, food etc. sexy then you might have a problem. If you want to call a woman sexy I wouldn’t do it in public and it’s up to you what you say to your partner.

I wouldn’t necessarily consider it a sin, but it strongly suggests that a person needs to enlarge his or her vocabulary.

The term came into our vocabulary from marketing. Advertisers talk that way because they want to distract you from practical considerations and turn on the ‘lust’ factor–that is, I see it, I want it!

Thinking we can or should have what we want, when we want it is certainly not an approprate way from christians to think. Some people will say that it’s a small thing and doesn’t matter, but I think it is more than that. It is part of our culture that objectifies other people and puts no limits on our avarice, lust, greed, and sloth. Those things are NOT virtues! :rolleyes:

So expand your vocabulary! Say what you like about something, why it appeals to you, but don’t take the mindless route of saying everything is ‘sexy’.

The only time I thought someone was sexy was Christina Aguilera (still is)
