Is it a sin to date someone who is the son of a practicing lesbian and who was created from in-vitro?

Hello,

One of my studnets asked me this very difficult question. I am unceratin exactly how to answer. The following is the email that she sent to me. Any advice that you can give would be helpful.

I need your help with something that is personal. I just need to know if I am going against the religion. Well my boyfriendʼs mom is a lesbian and I read in the CCC that it is not wrong to be this way as long as it is not practiced. The problem is that his mom does practice it because she has a girlfriend that lives with her. Is it wrong for me to be at their house and not say anything? Iʼm I suppose to say something? Also I have a question on how my boyfriend was born. He was not born the natural way because of the way his mom is. She had the In-Vetro Fertilization, I think thatʼs what it is called, but the common way is a donor. Is this sinning in any way? Am I sinning for being with him?

Hi,

It is not the place for a high school girl to correct the mother of one of her school friends—unless the topic comes up or she is asked for her views. It is certainly not the fault of the boy that he was not conceived as the result of his parents’ love for each other.

The girl could actually be a good influence on him. Being friendly to the son does not of itself show approval of the mother’s life style.
