Is it a sin to do this on accident?

So my friend was playing a game, and she made my character accidently have an abortion because she was clicking something too fast and the pop up for that appeared and she didnt read that before she clicked. Everytime a character has a child, we keep them alive, unless we accidently kill them. I know im probably being paranoid, but is it fine if we preform such grave sins in games on accident?

P.s its a game called instlife. Its a simulator and gives you options on how to progress with life. My friends goal was to have a child, after marriage ofc. We kept on clicking the close button on the pop up that said she wasnt pregnant, and when the screen finally had the window that said she was pregnant, she didnt realize it and thought she was clicking close screen button, but it was the button to kill the child.

P.s.s my friend was the one playing as my character, and i feel extremely guilty since it was my character, even though i wasnt playing at the time.

Accidentally clicking a button like that wouldn’t be a sin. But the game itself might be. What is it? I suppose if you’re given options between good and evil the game may not be sinful, unless it’s pushing you or promoting you towards evil? Just my guess.

Its a game about life, it gives you options to choose on how you progress life

Its a realistic game about life, like a simulator thing. It gives you realistic options about your life.

I’m in agreement with the other posters. You can’t really accidentally sin. If you pushed the wrong button on accident, it’s not a sin. Playing a game where you can accidentally murder a child with a push of a button is a little questionable though.

Yeah, I’d advise against playing that. At least in some games you’re a soldier defending your country, or going off to a castle to save the princess. This is not something I think you should be playing.

It’s just a game. It’s not sinful, especially in the way you described.

Btw bitlife is better

How realistic can it be if all you have to do when you get pregnant is push a button and it “goes away”. Does your character have a risk of enduring terrible pain, health implications, and a lifetime of traumatic guilt? Does some other player get killed off in the game, through no choice of their own?

Honestly, i dont know. Me and my friend know abortion is horrible, and this was just a random game we found on the internet. She was trying to make the character pregnant (after marriage ofc) but when the option to keep the baby came up, she accidently killed it. Should i confess this next time i go? Is it a mortal sin?

Maybe the stress your friend now feels comes from the realisation that this game while still being just a game turns life and death into a click, a whim of the player. The game is pleasant because of the illusory God-like power it gives to the player. Most games do this.
But it is all an illusion. An illusion that does not nurture anything good inside of you because while playing you begin to think that serious matters such as giving birth, dying having children, are all easy and cartoonish while they are not.
Guardian angels hint at people without making an accusation that certain ways we use for fun lead us into a mind thread that is unrealistic, unloving and simply put a dead-end. But the characters are shiny and pretty and the movement of the pixels lighting on and off on the screen make it all a very watchable and engaging show for us.
Life is not like that. Getting an abortion is not a malfunction in a game.

Agree. There are many games available, choose something else.

I have stopped playing it, but would it be a mortal sin though? Ill be sure to include this in my mext confession. My friends goal was to make the character have a child, and its a shame that when she had the chance she accidently killed it. If she would of known, she would of clicked the button to keep the child. We truly feel horrible about it even if it was an accident.

And the main reason i feel guilty is that she was playing as my character when she did that. Like i wasnt even the one controlling but i feel extremely horrible

The game its self was appealing because of its ability to control a characters life, but when i first started i didnt realize it had the ability to do that.

Of course it isn’t a mortal sin. First of all, you say it was your friend who did it. Secondly, it’s a game, not real life. Lastly, it wasn’t done intentionally. You might want to consider not using that particular game again since it seems to desensitize people to the seriousness of abortion, (and I suspect other things as well.) but that’s a matter of prudential judgement.
