Is it a sin to eat meat on Fridays during Lent?

Is it a sin, and if so Venial or Mortal, to eat meat on Fridays during lent?

If you prepare a meal, forgetting it was a Friday during Lent, and as your guests sit down for Dinner they tell you so, can you eat the meal?..can do defer the abstinence to Saturday?
