Why is it that in the Gospels Jesus never calls Mary mother?
Good question:) His words were written and recorded after His public ministry was underway. He calls her woman to refer back to Genesis God said to the serpent,"I will put emnity between you and the WOMAN,between your seed and her seed"He was verifying that she(Mary) is the WOMAN and Jesus is the seed that will and has foiled the plans of satan.God Bless

Why did I pose this question?Well this is why, we have had alot of derogatory things said recently about our Lady.Things like she meant no more to Jesus than anyone else.Okay, Jesus is without sin, for Him not to Honor her and to use her like a throw away is a man made fallacy that accuses our Lord of sin.Jesus is perfect,he would have been the perftect son as well,he certainly would not have treated Mary in a lukewarm or even disrespectful manner.I posed the question to point out a common sense fact.God Bless
The use of the word women was proper usage of that time, just as the usage of brother meant cousins or males of close kin.

We are so entrenched with our own culture we care not to do a little research and try to understand other people.

This is reflected today in the illegal ocupation of Iraq, when dogs were sent into homes of the Iraqis to find terrorists or snif out bombs. The Iraqis would fight back in protest when it was discovered thru research, after the fact, discovered it was sarcriligious to have a dog come into their home.

Deja Vue.

Don’t worry about it. You can’t keep the law anyway. We are not under law, but under grace. Everytime you break the ten commandments in your mind, or deed you break the law and so are guilty before God. The law was to bring us to Christ and make us realize we cannot save ourselves, but only the grace of God can, through faith in Jesus Christ.

In John 2, He called her “woman” in a way that the term is much more significant and lofty than if he called her “mother”.

Jesus told us to be concerned about it. I’ll go with His advice.

Do you keep the law? Do you feel you can become righteous by doing so? If you fail in one point to keep the law, you are guilty of breaking the whole law.
