I read somewhere a while ago that we shouldn’t grieve when bad things and injustices happens to us because we deserves those as punishments for our sins…is this true?

Where did you read that?

It is written in the Bible, Hebrews 12:6 “For those whom the Lord loves He disciplines, and He scourges every son whom He receives.”

If we suffer more than others in our lives, it doesn’t mean we sinned more than them. It could be many things. Some evil people have suffered far less in this life than saints. Don’t be concerned that suffering in your life means you have done something evil.

Its only a sin if we wallow in it too much. Its only human to feel sorrow and pain, at the same time we should seek God for comfort, and move to either forget our pain, correct the situation, or strive for something better.

Life happens with it’s good and bad and God truly does not allow more to happen to us than we can handle. He is a loving Father that is by our side when we suffer and it is natural for us to grieve over bad things in our lives. But as was said, we should seek the comfort of our Creator and not allow hope to escape us. Pain and suffering can actually become tools for our spiritual growth as we learn to rely more and more on the love and mercy of God.

Peace
