Before I knew about the truth of Transubstantiation, I took communion regularly in Protestant Churches. Was this a sin since I did in unknowingly?
No I was not. I’m taking the RCIA in September. Were you baptized Catholic? If not, then Catholic “rules” don’t apply to Protestants - it wasn’t a sin. Even if you had been baptized Catholic, but didn’t know what the Catholic Church taught about taking communion in a Protestant church - then it wasn’t a sin.
Taking Protestant communion is not a sin in itself, it is merely a “memorial” and nothing happens to the bread. Protestants dont sin when they partake in their memorial communion. No I was not. I’m taking the RCIA in September.
I’m guessing if you didn’t know . . .then it isn’t a mortal sin.I took communion regularly in Protestant Churches. Was this a sin since I did in unknowingly?
I used to be Protestant. Then I started reading the Bible. I read the Catechism of the Catholic Church as well and realized that the Catholic teachings are in the Bible and the Protestant teachings are most often not in the Bible or they just skip over the things they don’t like. I now consider myself Roman Catholic. This was before that. I will take the RCIA in September.I’m guessing if you didn’t know . . .then it isn’t a mortal sin.
And venial sins are forgiven you at Mass
I’m wondering whether it’s best to ask under what conditions you were at a Protestant place where they did a Protestant communion?![]()
This is very common.and realized that the Catholic teachings are in the Bible and the Protestant teachings are most often not in the Bible or they just skip over the things they don’t like
Yep, it’s quite true. This is very common.
