I did, I think it fell out of my pants when I picked them up after basketball tryouts. Was that a sin?
Erm, no. It’s not like you threw them away on purpose, after all. It’s no more sinful than accidentally dropping your keys or wallet somewhere. But come to think of it, if losing stuff actually counts as a sin, I guess I just had a whole new list on sins of my head…I did, I think it fell out of my pants when I picked them up after basketball tryouts. Was that a sin?
You have scrupulosity and need** professional help**, someone trained to help peopel with your condition. You need to **stop **posting the “is this a sin” questions on here and get a REGULAR spiritual director/confessor who can help you see a pattern in your intrusive thought patterns.I did, I think it fell out of my pants when I picked them up after basketball tryouts. The answer is still: No.It was also blessed by my city’s Archbishop.
Do you do it for attention?

You may not do it for attention, but it sure as heck seems like you either do , or some of your questions just aren’t serious. Like others have said, you don’t need to spend your time asking these questions. You need a shrink.Do you do it for attention?

Since I’ll take you at your word, let me try to give you some advice:Do you do it for attention?

No.
Stop posting here and go learn the very basics of your faith. Once you understand the basic definition of sin, you’ll quickly realize that almost all is-this-a-sin questions are unnecessary. Once you understand the definition of sin you will know if something is or is not a sin - 99.9% of the time.
And at those times when you aren’t sure, you can ask your priest. After all, you’ll see him in confession twice a month or so . . . .
This is the problem with this little corner of the forum: Those who have been properly catechized find these types of questions a bit silly. And that’s why they doubt the legitimacy of the question. So they start to wonder, “Is this guy serious?” “Does he want attention?” “Is he just looking for one silly post to take back to those heretics and hate-mongers at the CARM forum?”
I say this as charitably as I can: Go get a book and learn. Take an RCIA class. Schedule some time with a Deacon or Priest. If you are really wondering the questions you’re asking, you need a basic religious education.

Amen to THAT, sister. I was going to say similar, but I’m glad you beat me to the punch because you said it so much better than I would have.Just say a prayer that the person who finds it will value it…and that God will give the finder His blessing.
And have trust that God will.
And guys, take it easy maybe. This person is a worrier but sincere I think, fairly young though, so trying to sort out all these issues that worry him. He’s lost something that’s been blessed and he’s uncertain how culpable he is. If you check his profile and the groups he belongs to you’ll see they include OCD/Scrupulosity, along with a teen group…benefit of the doubt territory!
You might like to ask St Therese of Lisieux to pray for you to be more at peace with things. She went through a very scrupulous stage after her mother died, but she did get over it.
In any case, if you do need to talk or ask questions, you can always PM me. As I live in Australia my day-time and night-time differs from yours, so I can’t always reply at a time when you’re around. But I do think you’re sincere and wouldn’t wish you to be crushed by some of the comments. Hopefully you’ll gradually get things clear in your mind and won’t have cause to be so worried about things.
God bless, Trishie
Excuse me, but we are “taking it easy”. When you ask questions (sometimes several a day) about things that only an OCD victim would ask, we do have the right to say what we did.Amen to THAT, sister. I was going to say similar, but I’m glad you beat me to the punch because you said it so much better than I would have.
I remember having similar worries cross my mind when I was younger and would have had too much time on my hands making it very easy to post lots and lots of questions.
Seriously, it’s better to be posting questions than to be posting answers you have not the slightest clue about.
And, guys, even if it were the worst-case scenario and this poster were just mocking and taunting us; what harm can it possibly be? I feel neither ; and there is a much greater chance that someone else who actually has been wondering these little things but was afraid to ask, DID get something from them.
(Neat wall though, I hadn’t noticed that one).
PAX!
I see your point. It’s a valid one.Someone else made the point that non-catholics look at this forum as well. Asking questions like this fit right into anti-catholic stereotypes that I for one, want to avoid.
