Is it a sin to play video games etc a lot

I’m often on my computer 3-4 hours non-stop without a single break when I take my mom to her eye appointments as they can be that long. So I can sit around in a wadding room twiddling my thumbs for a few hours, reading magazines in a waiting room that have been touched by any number of possibly sick people or I can go hang out in the hospital cafeteria with my computer…

What I’m getting at here is that it’s all very situational to the extent that none of us here on this forum can give you a magical number where if you play video games over a certain amount of time that it is always automatically sinful. It is more of a question for your parents, spiritual director, and/or priest.
 
You should spend some of that time studying spelling. No sin involved, but it would be a shame for you to grow older without learning to spell.
